| Vanquish Ultra for TRX-4 guy?
I am the happy owner of 2 brushed TRX-4s, but with the new Ultra I am tempted to buy a 3rd portal Any reason why I should (or not) get a Vanquish? Brushless and with a dig is my dream... so I am looking for reasons to justify the dollars to be spent |

Buy it, open the box, start assembling.... You now know the difference between Quality and Traxxas budget parts. Hang up and Drive |

Yes, you’ll love both! I love my TRX-4’s. They’re the highest quality plastic trucks out there. I also love my Origin for other reasons. The extra weight of an all-metal construction just keeps the truck planted and it behaves differently. I’m also building an Ultra, but I haven’t run it yet. If I had to do it over again I’d possibly get the Pro instead just because it doesn’t have portals. If you want portals get the Ultra. If you want to try straight axles don’t hesitate to get the Pro. I’ll probably end up with a Pro eventually as well. |

Thanks for the interesting input, I have a vfd dig coming in the mail, so I am a lot closer to ordering an Ultra Still wondering if it is better in the terrain than a slightly improved TRX-4? Last edited by stigno; 04-13-2020 at 08:56 AM. |

You have to spend allot to make a trx4 as capable as the Origin Limited. I'd get the Pro though if you're looking for performance and mount the battery on the side. The only advantage I can see in the Ultra is he additional reduction.

I’ve got 5 TRX4/TRX4 axle based rigs and a VS4 Pro, completely different ballgame in terms of quality and fit + finish and I’m a TRX4 fanboi. You can’t go wrong with the ultra or the pro imo.

Would love to get a vanquish and I know it is worth the cost, but I am going to have to wait. On a 6 year plan to pay off the house and grand for rcs is not in the budget lmao.

| Re: Vanquish Ultra for TRX-4 guy? I am in the process of finishing my Ultra build now, and so far it has been worth every penny. Amazing fit and finish and a very well thought out design. Was taken back by the price for a while myself. Haven't driven it yet, but that will come very soon. I have only heard good things, so looking forward to that maiden crawl.

Time to revive this thread I am so happy with my VP Ultra with dig and HH 3500 kv Now I want another project, but what? (I have 2 TRX-4s, 2 Capra and one Ultra). My ideas are: 1. VP Phoenix, or is it too similar to the Ultra? 2. VP Pro, very expensive, but is it still worth it, in addition to the Ultra? 3. A build from scratch, such as TGH Sherpa or GSpeed, based on Capra axles? 4. or be happy with all the RCs I have? Any reflections to help me find a christmas present to myself? I'd say option 3 all the way-- turn one of the Capras into a Sherpa.

1: I think the phoenix is different enough from the ultra to justify owning both, plus the f10 portals have more steering angle, and you get dig included. Not to mention the whole body is different. And the price is right. 2: I feel like the pro is the ultimate trail truck… I finally got one a while back and it’s my all around favorite rig. I should mention, I don’t necessarily care for portals most of the time. 3: I’ve enjoyed building a couple of these, but got bored with them very quick once they were “done”. 4: does not compute….. Long story short, the answer is yes! | |

Thanks for all the interesting input, friends! I guess 4. is the only one out, the order of 1. and 3. is still to be decided. May be even 2. will be realized one day Last edited by stigno; 12-12-2021 at 11:57 PM. |

If you're looking for something of good quality, similar but not the same, might I suggest you get an SSD Trail King Kit and use it as a platform to build from.
