New Vanquish VS4-10 Phoenix Straight Axle

Finally!!!! I have been waiting for this release. $10 cheaper than the portal version, and includes metal bearing guides for the transmission. I suspect that this will be a VERY popular kit and I can’t wait to order mine. This truck looks much better with the straight axles.

Arghhh. This would be my 3rd FJ40 series Toyota if I got this...

might have to build one. Would have been nice if they swapped in the bigger version of their tires on this kit...

I could not resist the temptation, one on it's way. To be honest I wish Vanquish would have released it as a straight axles only purchase option also. I am kind of over the VFD Twin Transmission, mainly due to the cost of the upgrade trans parts.

I agree! I like the VFD Twin, but I'd much rather have the PRO version of the VFD.

I do BMOW, but I'm gonna play it smart and finish my few incomplete builds... It's safe to say though that this straight axle version will pop my Vanquish cherry.

Yup, same story over here. Eventually I’ll have one, but not just yet.

I may even try and find a set of the complete axles for sale once the kits start rolling out.

I was hoping for VP to release a new kit with both straight axles and the OG VFD trans, maybe a simpler/cheaper body... or a builder's kit without wheels and bodies and the simple VFD, I can't afford the 2 servos + radio upgrade, nor need dig/OD shift myself.

Its tempting to pick one up n sell off wat i dont need/want to fund wat i do need/want. The twin is nice, but i could go with the vfd n add dig later on. Dont take much to add o/d to the front axle. Really all im after is the axles, shocks, trans (sell or trade for og vfd), links, n maybe the inner fenders. The rest id sell to fund other parts. Maybe let my kids have the chassis to upgrade thier rigs a bit

You don’t have to use all of the features of the trans - just lock them in position with the set screw. I do agree if they would have offered it without wheels and tires for $50 less it would be even that much more attractive.

I’m sure the axles will be available separately in a few months, similar to the portals being available after the original Phoenix release.

I want one, but I have enough unbuilt kits to just stay away until I get the rest finished up. I need to slow down on getting rigs or at least start selling older rigs.

Anyone have any off the wall build plans? I'm thinking about doing something a little more "speedy" with this build. Maybe a TTC kind of thing? I'd love to keep the bed cage and do a square body chevy cab.

I don’t know when I’ll order a kit, but if I do, it will be straight axle front, portal rear, likely enduro trans (to help with ratio difference), maybe a 10.3 wrangler body, and maybe the new PL Toyo’s….

That sounds sick.

I’m thinking I might get this kit and use the axles on my v3 rails. Was originally planning on AR45 straights but I like the looks of these..
