Default could the ascender frame work for a tamiya yj?

I have a cc01 that I busted the steering out of and have been messing with mounting a servo between the front rails. I am thinking about ditching the whole cco1 and using the yj body on something else. When I saw the ascender had an adjustable wheelbase it got me to thinking. Will it fit the YJ? will all the current suspension and steering it comes with still work on the shortest setting?

Thanks for any info you could provide me.

It's close. The Ascender drops down to a 278mm WB out of the box, and the Tamiya is right around 2.55 or so. With some trimming, it certainly could be done. With the ability to narrow the axles too, I've been thinking about it myself.

Driveshaft angles may be an issue if you do that.

The Tamiya Jeep wheelbase is 242mm.

You might have to lower the ride height to get the driveshaft angle down and also shorten the driveshafts. It would be interesting to see if it would work.

Try this thread for some idea's.

I actually asked for a ascender for Christmas, and my plan is to mod it to fit a YJ body. I'll be comp cutting the rear of the YJ so that I can have the WB I want, as the YJ is pretty short. lol.

The YJ is very short! (242mm officially, SSD is correct)

I've got one on an STRC kit...works ok, but definitely had to either push the wheels out a bit and comp out the body. Even so, definitely had to compromise between shock travel, wheel height, etc, to avoid binding, but got it all worked out. Depends what look your are going for.

RC4WD just released a short wheelbase version of the TF2 chassis made for the YJ body. Considering all of the alloy parts and the forward mounted transmission, I would be willing to bet you will find it to be a better chassis for that particular body.

Yeah, I just saw that yesterday. Seeing how I've already asked for the ascender, that's the route I'll go. Besides, if it was easy, everyone would do it. Lol

I finally got to see an ascender at the gtg yesterday. While it didn't get run, I really like the look and design of it. I think this is gonna be a winner, with many uses.

I think it could work. My Ascender is about there now and I think I can make it shorter... mine is shorter than the shortest stock setting.

EDIT: My WB is now shorter than it was when I took the YJ pic.
