Default 802coma's Ascender Build

Well I finally got one of these. Got rid of my stockish scx10s for a need of something different and well I am not disappointed yet! This thing is a blast!!

Here are some right of the box pics.

I was originally was going to wait for the bronco. But soon to find out that this was the better buy. Here are my reasons....

Same price

Bronco has no sliders or rear bumper

Bronco also has no link extensions and such so to change whee base would of needed extra items to be bought.

With the K5 being at the longest setting, I have any wb available to me.

Now with the reasons out of the way.... Initial thoughts of the rig.

It is by far the best out of the box truck performance wise I have every driven.

Center of gravity seemed to be really good for having 100mm shocks. I feel the floating battery tray helps that a lot. Defiantly planning on keeping that setup

The torque twist is noticeable but some shock tuning should help with that and it's more noticeable to the eye with the larger body.

Notice the motor and trans is already setup to what would be the mirror'd scx10 configuration.

The front CVs were out of phase but that's a easy fix and couldn't really complain because it came with HD pinions and driveshafts.

The servo is ehh...but what rtr servo is great? I feel the scx10 felt a little stronger but could be the servo on axle design being more efficient on power delivery. Also notice my endpoint adjustments are max'd out on my TX and fee like it could steer sharper if servo allowed it.

Love that it came with a nice 3 channel spektrum rx...binded right to my DX4S.

The motor is decent for a sealed can, seem to have much better lower end co trip over the axial 27t.

I initial thought I was going to ditch the body right away but I fell in love with it. The factory paint doesn't seem the highest quality. Will touch on this later

Another thing I notice on the first drive was the approach and departure angles are horrible. Decided to tuck the bumpers to help with that. When trimming the body is where I saw the paint lifting from the lexan.

Onto the pics!! Love this stance!

The after pics of the tucking on the bumpers.

Can't wait to get this out on some real trails!!

Thinking I'm going to try a hair smaller tire next. More updates soon to come!

Where's the build? This is a RTR......

Nice looking rig though, I really love these Ascender's, very happy I got the kit version and now I have one of the new Bronco RTR's on order.
