| To be customs battery tray or not to...
Hey all New here and to rc crawling. Have bashed some slashes the last few years however. I have loved the vaterra bronco since I saw it come out but never acted on it. The I saw it on horizons 12 days of Christmas and decided to buy it on day 12. Too late. They were sold out. Not accepting defeat I scored a used K10. Now on to my question. I plan on buying the bp customs relocation battery tray instead of the shorty lipo. But I was wondering if the stock location or the bp tray was better for keep its center of gravity low and centered and keeping weight over/near the front wheels. Or the new solid mount battery tray vaterra has? Your opinions? Last edited by wwiifan; 12-29-2018 at 08:30 PM. |

I have had no regrets with my Chevy K10 Ascenders performance after the changeover to a BPC steel battery tray and full-size 3S batteries. It may be even less of an issue if you get the Vaterra plastic tray since it adds less weight than the rather sturdy and thick steel BPC part. I did change to brass SSD steering knuckles to add more weight down low and up front and absolutely love the way it climbs! By the way, changing to the transverse battery tray allowed me to fit a physically larger 550 can Holmes Hobbies 21t Trailmaster motor - it's a joy when paired with the HobbyWing 1080 ESC. Here is a top-down view of the chassis after the changes - all electronics are now in front of the motor, and a couple more pics: Last edited by durok; 12-29-2018 at 10:08 PM. |
