I only unboxed thi a few hours ago but I had to gut it straight away, out went the stock elecs (didnt even turn em on !) and i have tried for starters a Tekin 17.5 with SCT Pro esc and a savox 1256 servo. I will get a good micro servo with my next order along with a couple of 48p 5mm pinions to try out a Pro4. the shift servo is already running hot after setting EPA's. Overall impressed with the build quality, machine screws throughout ( although a lot are very small, 2 & 2.5mm ) I fitted a 23t pinion and you could probably go to 20 if you really want to slow this thing down and do some real crawling. I filled the front diff with rubber grease, its damn thick and really slows the diff down , a locker is on the shopping list. 1 adjustment collar on a front shock was broken on arrival, I noticed Proline rear shocks will fit on rear but looks like an onroad shock might be the only option for replacements for the front. The Exo terra engine and fuel cell slip right in and cover the battery really well, no trimming , just lift the spare and slide it in. First shakedown run tomorrow, can't wait ! |

I changed a few things last night after my shift servo took a dump.Found an old Axial servo plate to mount the steering servo as my shift servo. A bit of a trim and the rear bolt now goes thru the mount and into the tranny case. The standard size servo just fits inside the cage While it was apart I put blutack in the front diff (good tip, northerner bill) and put some 3mm mcmaster hinge pins in the front. Anyone who has had a DESC410R knows these are bulletproof. As soon as the upgraded hinge pin plate is available I'm grabbing one. I'm not sure how well this will last after a few good impacts. The full size servo does push the internal cover up a bit, rather than cut a hole and let in more junk I'll leave it like this. Here is a quick bit of footage from this arvo, yes I know its crap but you can see it crawl nice and slow! Vaterra Twin Hammers 17.5t Tekin 3S lipo - YouTube |

I havent put a gps on it to get an exact speed but I want this thing to crawl more like the real KOH rigs can, it will still chuck a decent roost in high but at 1/10 scale 10mph = 100mph , about what the 1:1 trucks do. thats about what I am aiming for. I tried the 23t pinion which was a good compromise of crawl/speed/jumping but I still wanted it slower, I reckon there is enough room to go down another tooth to 18t. Motor/esc run cool after a 2200 3S.
