First upgrade I bought was the 1.9 pitbulls with stock foam and for crawling I couldnt ask for anything better. Unfortunately I'm jumping a bit more and the tires are buckling, riding the rim on turn. Can anyone recommend some harder foam inserts? my LHS guys don't know crap about crap if crap was given to them..... Are you guys tossing these tires away and replacing them with something harder? any input is greatly appreciated ![]() |

I have the DD in mine with soft outer front and medium outer rear. I think they are great! ![]() |

I'm pretty sure I got 2.2 rover foams in mine right now and they work pretty darn well. Also in the past to stiffen up the side wall I have cut part of another tire (half or just the sidewall) and put it inside the tire. Helps a ton! |

go with crawlerinnovations closed cell narrow 4.50 inners and soft/med outers.. ![]() just right for this rig...firm enough to jump and not fold over and soft enough to get ya thru the rocks. |

My problem is with a vxl setup at speed the stock foams allow the tire to balloon to much and I get squirrelly.. also the sidewall folds over to much for my liking when cornering.. for a strict crawler the stickers are great

I put the foams from the stock tire into a set of pit bulls. I think they ride pretty nice.

That's what I was gonna say. I put the stock vaterra foams into a set of flat irons and they're pretty stiff. I'm gonna put some softer foams in for better crawling. Last edited by snicklefritz; 05-06-2013 at 03:49 PM. | |

Taping the tire is good for high speed but with crawling and speed I think I would rather just do stiffer foams taping would probably hurt crawling

That's way cool. I ended up stuffing some other tire foams and that worked great. Thanks everyone. WAY COOL

I took the soft foam out and put the foams from the stock tires in my pit bulls. I did not like that the tire was a little loose fitting around the foam. So I took the outer layer of the 1.9 pit bull foams and put those around the stock foams and now the tires are nice and filled up. I will be giving this setup a test run tomorrow.

A buddy mounted his 1.9 pits in a set if 2.2 wheels.. They looked cool and seemed to perform well. Don't know what foams... Just trying to give you ideas. ![]() Sent from my highly abused iPhone using Tapatalk |
