Default transmission question

so i took off the shifting servo since i dont need it cuz i just bash.

but not the shifter is loose and when i put it in a gear it comes out and i throttle and the gears spin but the car is obviously not moving becaause its in a "neutral" state.

so how would i keep the shifter stuck in a gear? should i put on the old shifting servo to keep the linkage in place?
