Installed the Metal Tranny gears with no problem same with the front sway bar.

The rear sway bar causes a little concern since the stock bolt that holds the lower part of the rear shock is a bit short. So I still have to buy my self a longer one soon.

I'm sure there are a bunch of people wanting to know this. Has anyone tried emailing WLToys yet? Do all of their products use a combined rx & esc? Perhaps one of their other models has a standalone rx?

A quick google came up with this. It shows a wltoys helicopter esc rx unit binding with a flysky radio. So logic would suggest that if they use the flysky protocol for air then they would use flysky protocol for land as well. Maybe someone just needs to get creative with the attempts.

This WLToys car has a separate esc and rx as it's brushless and appears to have a regular brushless esc.

I've done more digging. So it appears the same esc rx unit used in the k949 is also used in other cars. But the others cars have a different tx. Then there is a boat made by wltoys that shares the same tx as this other car but the boat uses a regular rx. So in theory if tx-k959 binds to rx-k959 and tx-L323 binds with rx-k959 and tx-l323 binds with rx-wl913 then logic dictates that the tx-k959 will bind with rx-wl913. Hope that makes sense.

So both K959 and L323 use this RX ESC unit.



Both L323 and WL913 use this TX


And WL913 uses this RX


Then the TX for the K959 should bind with the RX for the WL913. Which is most likely just a flysky or similar.

I've gone an ordered a WL913 receiver as per above from gearbest for AUD $8.68 and have arranged to borrow the K959 TX from a mate to test this out.

yea it is a shame to have another transmitter sitting doing nothing...my servo and rx/speedcontroller are toast.... brought the truck to use the suspension for a scale pre runner tho but would like to use re use the transmitter with something.

Ok so the RX I ordered from Gearbest arrived. From Germany. Was expecting it to come from China. Here are some pics. Now I just need to borrow the TX off Ric and get to work.

Both are definitely the same manufacturer. Part number on both receivers starts with LGW580. See pic posted above vs the all in one module.



I have had a quick play with it also. Ive powered on the RX with a cheapo brushed esc. The RX powers on and flashes rapidly indicating it's not bound to anything. If I hold the Bind button down on the TX it beeps and the new RX starts flashing slowly. Once I release the bind button I have steering and throttle in 1 direction only. I've yet to get it working in both directions. Also it appears the end point, trim and dual rate buttons are all swapped around. I'll have another go later with a different ESC.

So I tried another ESC. Same story. I get steering. Forward motor and no ch3. Also I forgot to mention the RX won't stay bound as soon as it looses power I have to re-bind. I can however power off the TX and it stays bound. But not so on the RX.
I tried setting up the same esc on a flysky tx/rx and it self calibrated and had fwd and rev. I then unplugged from the flysky and tried binding back to the wltoys combo and same story. I'll keep working on it trying different settings while binding etc.

It binds but has no reverse and no response from channel 3. It also only remains bound when powered on. Once I power off the rx it looses it. More work and research to do i think. It can be bound to 5 different cars so surely there is an rx that works with it.

That cheapo Tx has better edge than a standard Tx.

The fact that it has a 3way 3rd channel, and you can control the endpoints and other stuff, its worth the keep
