Hi all, I'm thinking about changing out the motor in my RTR v2 & was wondering if this will fit straight in or will I need to change other things to make it work? TrackStar 10.5T Stock Spec Sensored Brushless Motor V2 (ROAR approved) (AU Warehouse) |

Does the v2 have a brushless sensored cappable esc? The first version didn't. I have that motor in one of my TH currently, and it is just perfect for me. I have a Tekin RS esc though I think you are gonna need to get an esc to go with it. I would make sure your trans has metal gears too if you are gonna crank it up Last edited by smog; 10-18-2016 at 06:26 PM. |

Thanks for the reply. I think the gears are metal except for the spur. Might have to change it.

Just checked the ESC & it will go down to 8t. The turnigy motor is brushless but the standard dynamite 15t is brushed. Does that matter?

Hi Bart, seems your stock esc can`t handle brushless motors. You have to get a brushless esc, too. Make sure the esc is sensored and the drag brake can be set at 100%. If you go for a trackstar esc, check if the sensor cable is included. You also may want a programming card to fine tune your esc. Greetz, Stollenritter |

The Turnigy you are looking at is brushless AND sensored. If you are not wanting to pick up a new ESC you will need to stick to brushed motors. If you do pick up a new ESC be sure it is capable of running sensored motors. Last edited by smog; 10-19-2016 at 09:02 AM. | |

Ok what about this combo? Turnigy TrackStar Waterproof 1/10 Brushless Power System 4000KV/80A (AU Warehouse) & why does it have so much more power when it's only a 16T? |

You will want to go with a sensored brushless motor if you plan on doing any crawling, non sensored motors will cog to much.

So I ended up going sensored brushless as suggested. I got the Hobbyking xcar 120A esc/4500kva motor. In the box are 2 black caps on a board, these have a small red & a black wire coming from them. The manual doesn't mention them at all in the wiring setup & im wondering where the go?

What Pinion Spur would you guys recommend for thgis setup? I'm thinking spur around 86-90 & pinion between 20-24? I like to crawl a bit but also like the punch & speed of the 4500kv motor. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

I was running 22/78 with a 4500kv puller pro. It's as fast as i'd ever want in 2nd gear, and crawls well in first. I've dropped a 32dp gear setup now.... i cant remember which sizes, but its a close equivelent.
