The stock performance is pretty darn good, but can be made slightly better. The above post lists some good mods that will improve crawling performance.

The Irie bell-crank set up is probably the single best upgrade for crawling, as it buys you all the steering you need at low speed. A different bell-crank set-up might also perform well, but I've only used the Irie set-up.

The Irie bell-crank requires some front suspension system other than stock in order to mount it, so the GCM front plate or a different front shock tower will be in order if you want the Irie bell-cranks. The front shock towers that I've used really don't make the front suspension any better, but are nice because they allow a bell-crank steering mod to be installed.

Also, getting weight down low will help. GCM's front shock tower allows forward mounting of the battery which helps. Some aluminum wheels, and aluminum suspension components will also put weight down low. You've already got the front diff locked and some decent tires, so you're moving in the right direction.

Wet, slippery situations I'm really not familiar with, as I live and crawl in the dry, Southern California desert, and I don't drive my RCs in water. Hopefully some of the mods referenced here can help with crawling in wet conditions too.

Mine is converted over to crawler only. Since the CG is so low, it crawls up just about anything. Great little rig.

Single speed conversion (in low gear basically)
35t motor
Upright front shocks and bellcranks
1 oz lead weight mounted up front as far forward as possible - battery still mounted out back.
Slightly weighted beadlocks.
cage trimmed out back slightly

That's it.

Doesn't look like this anymore, wheels and tires get changed around a bit.

The Irie bell-crank set can be installed using the stock suspension. Here's mine.

What did it take to do this, just the kit?

Yes sir. I just ordered the bell-crank set. I had to add a few small spacers where the top of the shock towers attach to the top plate in order to get the shocks more horizontal/parallel with the plate itself, but it was a very minor issue. See my posts starting on page 50, post #493 in the thread linked below. I also have pics of what I'm talking about.

Maybe worth considering Scorched Parts bell cranks:

And the version with upright shocks and right side mounted servo for battery relocation. The battery mounted down here is a BIG improvement:

The geometry of these have been carefull optimised to get the max steering angle, max suspension travel, and reduced bump steer. Top drawer performance and excellent durability from laser sintered parts.

IRIE has gone MIA so his products are no longer an option.
