I believe the stock ones are about 4 to 4 1/4 inchs in length. also is there a way to modify the stock shocks and put some kind of stronger springs on the inside and take the outside springs off?

Traxxas Big Bores are pretty popular to use. You'll have to modify the top shock cap, by cutting off the existing hole and the using screw, mount a new link end to the top.

How did you mount them to the battery tray? I used the little plastic mounts that came w/ the losi shocks, and I noticed that they are pulling on the battery tray, and limiting my articulation, and will probably break the tray. The tops of the shocks dont pivot enough, and begin to pull on the screw. Im curious to see how you did it. Id like to do this without doing the whole ckrc stage 2 thing. Thanks in advance!

Get creative and I was more so talkin to who started the thread. It's just there's all kinds of info even tons of it in the pictures sticky but nobody wants to take effort to search or be creative by themselves. They just want a quick answer, and yes I have been guilty of it to.

Alternatives...

I bought a pair of the Spark Comp Shocks with Ti shafts.... these things have a real quality feel to them and the machine work is awsome! The free and compressed length work real nice with my stage x chassis.

I did a homebrew stage two and lost the battery tray....the losi shocks were done at the same time so I never had them mounted in the stock location.

Those shocks are the worst, my son had them and there is no way to bleed the air out so they get vapor locked. I even drilled a bleeder hole and they still didn't work for sh!t.
