Drag 40%-50%

Start-up power High

Cheat mode I think 22 deg at 7200 rpm? Chime in Bo, my memory fails.

What does the advanced timing get you? I need to turn the drag down a bit

Yea, I think I have my CHEAT starting at 20,000rpms, ramping up hard and fast. I remember yours being lower and more progressive though I'm not sure it was that low. We set yours up lower since you only run 2s primarily, as opposed to me running 3s usually. When I run 2s I hardly hit cheat mode (3100 RPM/V motor * 8.4V = 26000 RPMs with fully charge battery)

Lots of wheelspeed. We can talk how it actually works this weekend if you want, but for now you can think of it as a turbo that comes alive at a set RPM and builds boost (timing) as the motor RPM increases.

Drag preference is a personal thing, but I'd say all us should be in the 40-60 range.

That is essentially the same setup I run in the FJ40, sensored of course, and I love it. It works very well, a ROC412 or Pro4 is about the only way that setup can get better. What batteries are you running? See my post above about the cheat mode regarding 2s vs 3s CHEAT mode setup. My personal feeling is that this setup needs no less than 3s. I find that with the 2 pole motor my low speed torque suffers too much with the 2s battery, plus you have to gear it too tall for speed which leads to heat issues in situations that require torque. No issues on 3s though.

I run minimal mechanical timing on my motor (I think the lowest that motor can go is 2 degrees). This keeps the motor cooler, plus it doesn't get too crazy when you start adding timing with the CHEAT mode. Advanced timing = more heat.

Depending on rig weight, 40-60% drag brake. I run 60% on my 9lb rig. It depends on how you like your drag brake setup too though. And I think I run 30% brake? That may be incorrect its been a while since I messed with it.

I also tune my throttle curve down within the ESC a little bit so it is a smooth takeoff.

Ive run three or four different set ups in my crawlers. Ive run brushed, brushless with and without sensor. I love the Holmes brxl esc. I doubt ill ever run anything else in my trail rig. You can always get ya a sidewinder3 from castle. It will run brushed or brushless. Im sure there are other's that have that capability as well. Ill stick with the Torquemaster and a 27t or 35t brushed motor. It just works best for me.
