Got the rear diff all fixed so she's 4x4 once again. Just an FYI for the locals, the ace hardware on geo way has a damned good selection of metric screw's down to 1.6m.... Prices arent too bad either, the screws I needed were $.17 each. |

Those screws are the weak link on the truck. The only other mechanical things on it that Ive broken in the last year is first gear idler and output gear in the trans and the drive pins in the cvd's up front. Otherwise it hasnt broke since it took a dive off the roof of my yota at 50 mph.... ALl that did was break a stubshaft froma front cvd. So yea, anyone that wants to run it is more than welcome to it. ;) |

WT, my buddy Donovan has a maxx crawler. Would be cool to compare rigs when he can make it to a GTG. He only breaks revo shafts . He just installed the novak brushless crawler system in his truck. Now he has way more power than 2 lathes. I can see it now...broken revo shafts laying all over the place. And burnt moab XL's.

Likes2crawl, of course I got another set for trail spares.... we'll see how long these last, if I break them Ill probobly upgrade to 3mm hardened pan heads and be done with it... CC anytime you wanna drive it lemme know, my maxx is like the town bike, everyone can have a turn all ya gotta do is ask. ;) Tanis I got tired of breaking 2.5 mt maxx shafts even when Id sleeved and cored them with tubing and solid rod so I put cvd's in everywhere. THe rear driveline is actually a widemaxx axle shaft so its close to 15" now. Im extending the front in the very near future and building a new chassis for it. Its a good trail rig but a comp crawler it is not by a long shot. Brushless is one of the next steps in the build, I want to upgrade the front servo to a 5955 or whatever that 333oz servo is and put the 94358 in the back. |

Yeah Donovan needs the hitec servo as well, he has gone through 8-9 JR125mg's in 4 months . At $35 a pop, he could have bought 2 5955's by now, and been done with it. Sometimes you just have to invest. I don't think he can use CVD's, as his axles are fabbed and a custom width, he had to shorten his revo shafts to fit. Nathan |

Why can't he run cvd's?? They are just steel so they can be welded if need be. Im planning on lengthening the rig about an inch so Ill need to cut and sleeve the old rear driveline to the proper length for the front when the time comes. Its not a big deal at all. Ive got a buddy with narrow cvd's brand new unused that he'd probobly sell cheap, he bought them and loctited them before making sure they were for his wide maxx... No returns on loctited stuff.... |
