New OCM 2.2 Crawler Review

The 2 order confirmations I have don't have the price on them...

I think it was $299.00 when I ordered them, what is it now?

I also asked since i ordered it before the price was changed, will they honor the cheaper price, they said NO!
Wow!! That can't happen!!

To clarify: you placed an actual complete order for the rig at the $299 price while it was on backorder, and they want to claim that you will have to pay $349 to receive the rig?

yes that is correct. when i talked to them today on the phone they told me that price is subject to change. if the company raises the price they raise the price. weither it is back ordered or not. so when it comes in regardless of when i ordered it i will pay what ever price they are selling at now. :-( thats not good business!! unfortunitly i will pay the extra 50 if i have to (after fighting)and they win.

i just went and pulled up my invoice on their web site and the invoice is still quoting me the $299 price, so i printed it out and hopefully i can use that as a leg to stand on if they try to make me pay more. Only time will tell.

hey

This is a reason why I am not thrilled about the idea of buying a vehicle that is only supported by one vendor in the US.

I hope that more stores start to sell the Berg.

wow they accept backorders at one price, get a ton of back orders, then raise the price? That just doesn't seem right.

Well they don't take any money when you set up a backorder. Just send you an email when they're available. It looks like they'd honor the back order price but I'm not sure. When I go into my backorder status it says 299. Yep guess we'll see.

If you paid with a credit card, I'd let them charge you whatever they want. Then present a copy of the receipt to your credit card company and let them get you your money back (they will, immediately).

Underhanded business tactics deserve to be treated in kind.

I print screen all my orders to be on the safe side, but their policy doesn't mention charging the higher price"thumbsup"

Actual wording of Back Order Policy

Any items showing the Back Order button next to them means that we are currently out of stock of that item, but have re-ordered it from our distributor. You may order any back ordered items by placing those items in your shopping cart and going through the checkout process. We do not require payment for back order items until the items arrive and are ready to ship.

As soon as your back order items arrive in our store for purchase, you will receive an email that evening letting you know your back orders are in stock and ready for shipping. To purchase your shippable back order items, simply log into your account and start the checkout process. Our web site will automatically ask you if you wish to include your shippable back orders in your order, and then you simply continue the checkout process the same as normal. If you do not wish to include them with that order, you may decide to skip including them, or just skip a couple of items for that order and they will remain on back order for your next order.

Important: You only have 7 days after your back orders arrive and are shippable to purchase them before they will be returned to our general inventory stock. For high demand back order items you may want to pick them up as soon as they arrive in stock.

Although I'm going to be pretty upset if they don't honor the backorder price. They didn't take any money. They didn't even ask for credit card information. Even though I don't like it, as long as money hasn't changed hands they likely have the right to change the price.

When you place a backorder it puts a Backorder item in your shopping cart for 0.00 price. If they had actually had you pay for the kit right then then yes they would definately have to honor it. But let's not jump to calling them sneaky or underhanded.

In their defense. The way they have it set up now allows them to raise the price if for some reason their supply cost has gone up at all.

It is more likely though that the high demand has lead them to raise the price because they know they'll get it.

I didn't use them and my track width is 10.25  ohh wait, I cut and narrowed my tubes and axle shafts :lol:
Cheater! :flipoff:

The big advantage I see with the OCM's, even if you narrow up the Clod, is that the OCM has 1 5/8" clearance under the case with Losi Claws while my shaved Clod axles only had 1 3/8" of clearance with Masher 2000's.
However, I'm not going to pay $350 for axles.

i have to agree you really cant beat the price of this chassis, with all that comes with it. even though i probably will only be using the axles and maybe the shocks.

But you get free links, shocks, chassis, & beadlocks. All metal, no plastic.
I was assuming you'd want to replace the wheels with something like the VF Assassins to get the track width down.
If the wheels that come with it are the way to go then that does indeed make it a much better value.

I was also assuming you'd need to replace the links and shocks to work with an aftermarket chassis. Again, if the kit parts prove to be the way to go then maybe it's a better deal than I first thought.

My first thought was like with an AX-10, the only useful parts to me are the axles and tranny and even those need tons of upgrades for competition use.

Of course, it will solely be on an individual basis as to how much worth the "other stuff" brings, but there is quite a bit of good stuff there.

The shocks are nice, leak-free, units and can easily be used on a comp rig. At first, I thought they would be too long, but if anything, I wish they were a little longer now. Probably a little long for a 2.5" belly clearance rig, but the design of the rig allows for 3"+ inch belly clearance without killing COG.

I am using the stock links directly screwed to my SW2, and they are great.

The wheels can be used, but you will be in the 11"+ WT range..............which I haven't found to be that big of a deal personally, although I am getting some narrower wheels from Eritex soon. Also remember that the wheels can be used on other rigs that you own if wanted.

Good points Robb. I'm glad to hear the links are working with the SW2, I might order one if they get caught up. You guys have answered all the doubts I have had.

Grizz, I drove one this past sunday. Yes it had the VF rims. Other than that it was all stock. Rizzo dig & fuel tube to limit the artic. I drove it back to back against my Agent Fat Cat on a relative easy course we set up. My AFC had maybe 7 reverses & 1 repo(that was strictly my fault). The OCM had 1 reverse. Both made all five gates. I was very impressed. I told everyone there that this is the rig to have & I'm getting one. Guess what I did when I got home.

Wow, sounds like the ticket for me. I hated the day I gave up my 2.2 Clod for a TLT, sounds like I will be able to get back to motor-on-axle. "thumbsup"

Thanks DTP.8)
