has anyone ever made a diesel scale rig? can you even get a small diesel engine? would it be possible. i am a big big diesel guy hence the name inline6power, gota couple 1000hp cummins and i would love to build something of that nature but not sure if an motor is even available.

links to said Cummins?

i will have links up to mine in 2 weeks. i had a 99 dodge that did 813 but that was a full size duallie. now have a shortbed regular cab drag truck with a 03 common rail motor. same setup as the 1138 vid but with less turbo.will be right at 1000

sorry about the first video being kinda bad, i took it with my cell phone. here is a couple of pictures of my drag truck. i think it would be really cool to do a diesel scaler but not sure if anything like that exist

Nice looking rig. "thumbsup"

Diesel guy myself. No where near that HP, but she still isn't a slow mover.

Have a guy here who hit 1289hp w/ 2000+ ft# torque. He has been listed in a few magazines.

Peace

name wouldnt be ole lloyd mills would it lol.

Ive got a couple diesels myself. 95 12v  and an 06 powerstroke. they are both nowhere near stock but the 12v makes POWA!! it would be sweet to see a scale diesel rollin some smoke pullin a trailer that has a crawler on it.

thats why i started this thread lol. i would love to build a truck like that as well just not sure if there are actually rc used diesel engines.

you can get "diesel" conversions for some nitro motors.. but its not really like a real diesel..

diesel

David Diesel conversion.

They sell nitro conversion. They are very expensive. You can only get the hobby diesel from him now cause very few places sell it. There is no smoke like a diesel it just like a regular nitro. No power advantage. The diesel just goes through the carb. The only difference is a different head with out glow plug. I feel like the engine would flood so many times and its not even worth the hassle.
But you can do a electric scaler kit and they get one of those cool smokers and hook it up to your esc. They have forms about it in the scale section.

Never heard of a scaled down diesel? Would be cool to see a scale truck rollin some coal. I did build my version of a diesel tho  I actually just put this smoke unit on my 1/6 harley build. Ignore the ugly brass stacks, theyre soon to be bigger polished alum.

next to a lifted 2.2 highlift

Since diesels don't have spark plugs and they use somewhat of a glow plug, i think every nitro engine is basically a diesel engine besides the diesel fuel.

And burning diesel fuel needs a hot temp plug. not sure a engine that small could contain the heat.

if you really wanted to do it...i would look into any of the OS FS 4stroke engines..great low end torque and well..there big blocks..closest thing imo to a a true BIG D in the RC world

davis motors are just a head you put on your nitro motor it is a 2 stroke diesel capable of making more torq than nitro it has a screw to ajust compression it needs no glow plug just compression and the fuel has some oil in it for loob go to the web sight and check youtoube for davis diesels

nitro engines are eccentialy a scaled down single cylinder diesel engine. main difference between the 2 is that a diesel has one hell of lot more compression required to generate the heat for combustion of fuel. Nitro engines also lack a diesels hotspots. Not sure if all diesels have them but i know landys do.

If you're looking for a true scale deisel engine, I've never seen one. However, I have seen a few scale v8's (probably qualify for 1/5th scale at the smallest) that are absolutely bad-ass. Pretty sure that one of the guys sells them, but they are not cheap. Like $10k. Dig around on youtube and you'll find them.
