Religulous ~

Gonna watch the movie in a little bit.

I did find this funny though.

in⋅fi⋅del  /ˈɪnfɪdl, -ˌdɛl/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [in-fi-dl, -del] Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun
1. Religion.
a. a person who does not accept a particular faith, esp. Christianity.
b. (in Christian use) an unbeliever, esp. a Muslim.
c. (in Muslim use) a person who does not accept the Islamic faith; kaffir.
2. a person who has no religious faith; unbeliever.
3. (loosely) a person who disbelieves or doubts a particular theory, belief, creed, etc.; skeptic.

Infidel (literally "one without faith") is an English word meaning "one who doubts or rejects central tenets of a religion or has no religious beliefs"

In Christianity the term infidel was traditionally used by the Roman Catholic Church to refer to one who did not believe in the divinity of Jesus, knowingly held beliefs that contradicted Catholic dogma, or one who had not been baptized, or by Christians in general to describe non-Christians or those perceived as enemies of Christianity, including Muslims.

Infidel was used by Christians to name the people outside their religious group, the ones who do not have faith. Theologically defined, an infidel is one who denies Christianity and the truth of the Scriptures. Nonbelievers however may not necessarily be infidels, if they still be inquiring after evidence to satisfy their mind. The term's definition has also been widened by some to include atheism and various forms of dogmatic disbelief.

if you need a religious crutch because you dont like the idea of just rotting in the ground go ahead.
dont push it on me, dont base your politics on it, dont do anythign with it outside of your house or place of worship.

who cares what everyone believes were all here and we gotta be the best person we can and make the most of our time here.

dont sweat the small stuff and dont worry bout what everyone else is doing.

I don't really think there's been many wars started because of religion. They're all about money and power and they use religion as a cover. The crusades were about money and land, and a way to escape the plague.

I don't personally believe in god (and I don't give a rat's ass if you do or not) but I still think Bill Maher, Richard Dawkins and their ilk are a bunch of blowhards. Just live your life and let others do the same. Don't turn atheism into a religion, that kinda defeats the purpose.

I went to school with a preachers kid, one day we had this great discussion about beliefs. Being that Im not religious in any specific cult sect, Im open minded enuff to listen to it all and believe a little bits of every sect. Well he blurted right out and said, if you do not beleive in Jesus Christ, go to church every week and believe without doubt, every word in the bible, you will go straight to hell. YEAH RIGHT! I asked him about the Jews, Budists, Muslems, Native Americans or people who do not reguarly attend church. "Straight to Hell", he said without a seconds pause. So, who the fu*k is he or anyone else to judge what I or anyone else believes or disbelieves in? Rotten ass bunch of hypocrites. They are the biggest reason church is a turn off to me and millions of other thinking people.

You should've started singing.

Sure, people got by just fine 2050 years ago, what happened to them when they died if they did not believe in Christ, as he never existed to them? Did they go to Hell, as religions say you will for not believing? What about the Budists, Muslems, Greeks? Will they go to hell for not believeing in the bible? These are just some things to think about.

What happened to "Judge not lest you be judged", "Thou shalt not judge" and "Love thy neighbor"? The religious advice is to make fun of atheists and to treat them like trolls. This is more proof that atheists are better Christians than Christians (and smarter, too). You can't discuss religion with a religious person if you do not believe as they were raised to believe. Hence the very unintellegent, yet typically hypocritical, comments that come from the religiously programmed people like Shaun and MOCrawler.

I agree, only I was brought up by religious people and realized the BS on my own.:D

P.S. If this offends you, you are the problem with today's society.

Do not question what cannot be scientificly proven and has been proven BS by science. Wars have been fought and billions killed over everyones different perspectives on what they have been brought up to believe. Im greatful I was brought up in a non religious family, it allows me to have my eyes open to it all and choose my own beliefs instead of being brainwashed into one cult sect from birth.

Couldnt agree more.

What a total waste of time, some people think the earth is flat, some think that Tom Cruise is gay, who the hell cares any way. Organised religion is a control method that's worked for centuries, and a good money maker too, I think true religion has nothing to do with any holy book or group of zealots, it's how you feel and think about yourself, how you fit into the world and how you treat other people. But come on, Bill Maher questioning peoples beliefs as a form of entertainment, I would rather stick needles in my eyes.

As I remember, it was about converting the heathens, heretics, and infidels to Christianity. If they wouldn't commit they would be killed or driven from thier land.

I agree. Bill Maher is a tool.

Im not religious man , or a nonbeliever. Basically I dont know JACK about religions , but it seems to me , from whats posted above , that the christians and the ( F&^*&%ing rag head ) Muslims are responsible for alot of conflicts.

This is just an opinion , mine , and because I live in the best country in the world , I'm entitled to it.:D

That kinda stands out, doesn't it?

Keep in mind though that not all Christians or Muslims feel the same way as thier apparently supremely dedicated brothers. There are a couple that even pitted Christians against Christians, though they weren't listed that way on the list. Kinda makes you wonder exactly what they're fighting for...

each side thinks their imaginary friend is better.

You forgot the USA, Invaded by countless nations, its natives slaughtered, butchered, mass murdered, pilaged, raped, enslaved and shoved onto small communities after having their lands stollen from them. All in the name of , you guessed it, :flipoff:Christianity :flipoff:. But, Its OK, they were nothing but Savage Heathens anyway, right?

True enough, but the list had to stop somewhere. If I were to research it and go back to the first ever religious conflict, and list each and every one up to today, it would be one hell of a long read. I figured I'd stick with the latest ones in the interest of time.

Its pretty ironic that our ancestors came over here to escape (among other things) religious oppression, and here we are today, jammin' Jesus anywhere we can get him to fit.
