i have 5 slots on my rx, however the 5th slot is labeled something other then b/c i will check when i get home

DSC= Direct servo connect.........I do believe "thumbsup"

I'm also curious can you use lipos, the manual for the 4pk online, states that the rx should use a 6 cell Ni-Cd battery.

Yes you can use lipos to power the ESC if it is capable of handling lipo's. The Futaba RX can only handle a 6 cell Ni-Cd battery if that is the only thing powering the receiver, similar to a nitro vehicle that do not have an ESC.

keep in mind your esc feeds the power to your RX, not the battery directly.

Just because you are putting in 11.1v does not mean that is what your esc is feeding the RX

Harley,

Since you are the 4PK expert......
I have a powerboat end I want to set up my 4PK but I can´t seem to get it right.....
When I have the boat in the water, my ´break´ should do NOTHING.... BUT when I push a button (for example in the grip) the break should move, because that way I can shut down the engine...
Do you know how I can fix that?

I will have to show my ignorance of other forms of RC here

I cannot say that I have tried using the boat mode yet. I may have to have you explain to me the problem a little more in depth for me to fully understand. I would be happy to help if I can.

Josh, I think he has a nitro boat. They are setup so that you can hit a button and close the carb all the way, during normal operation it will not close the carb.

Crawling Dutch Let me take a look tonight, after work.

Crawling Dutch,

I assume that you need to setup the 4PK for a nitro boat.

Page 78 in you manual tells you how to do it. If you need any additional help, please feel free to ask, we are more than happy to help.

Haha Well it is not a nitro boat!
It has a Zenoah (thank God) but in the boat scene, they want you to be able to shut the engine of with the transmitter. Also handy when your boat flips! that way the amount of water IN the engine won't be as much... So the engine runs steady because of the position of the servo. If you hit the break the engine will drop in revs and stops.
With a normal servo, you throttle and break (1/6 scale cars).
But on a boat, it is not handy that when you break by accident, the engine stops. So I want to be able to throttle as in a normal rc car, but when i accidently hit the break the servo doesn't move backwards. That should only happen when I push a button...

Hope it is a bit more clear know! 8)

I'll check the manual again, but the last time I couldn't work it out.... If anyone knows how to make this set up work, feel free to post it! "thumbsup"

Well the first thing that you need to do is setup brake side cut. This will not move the servo when you push the trigger into the brake side.

For stopping the motor, I see two options.

  1. Use the engine stop switch
  2. Close the carburator
Do you have and use a stop switch on your motor?
