TJ low-rider - 2010 Scale Nats Trail rig build

Got any updates Chris?

As a matter of fact...

Been a while since I updated this build, work has been keeping me really busy lately, but managed to get more done in hotels at night, etc.!

Parts back from the powdercoater:

Axial light buckets added in (Al's making me up a new set of lights since I apparently can't read a ruler properly!):

The CAC beadlocks don't have a big enough space in the center to fully mount the Axial center caps. No problem, just glued in some 4mm nuts into the center caps. Time will tell how well this holds up:

Electronics all laid out (wiring still needs cleaning up). Can also see the boatsides (18ga laser cut stainless steel bent up on my brake):

Yes, I purposely soldered on the motor wires backward so they don't create a big loop when running them to the rear where the esc is mounted:

And some fender wells to hide everything:

More pics to come.

Glad you funally updated this thread Chris. Although I don't have anything to complain about I saw it as a roller on Tuesday. This thing is a sweet looking beast and I think ( hope:mrgreen: ) it will do really well.
Make sure you take lot's of pics and video's of the shake down run this weekend."thumbsup"

You suck. :flipoff:

Aw, you hurt my feelings :-P:mrgreen:

Was hoping to snap some outdoor pics, but got back from work after dark. Guess I'll use some of these overtime hours in May :D!

Might lower the ride height a bit. Undecided, but at this point, I've got batteries charged up and ready to take it out for a shakedown run this weekend. More pics and hopefully video to follow!

This looks terriable:-(, what have you done to that jeep? You better send it my way and I'll make sure to drive it off a cliff ( and then back up again ).
YOu know I'm kidding Chris, the Jeep turned out great. Everything tucked away nicely, the color turned out pretty good. Do you have any pics of the rear tail lights yet?

I'm speechless.... that is fawkin nice:shock:

just wow "thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup"

Thanks!

Sure thing Justin. I saved you the hassle and drove it off a cliff already. Packaging up the bits to send your way later today :-P

Did what I probably shouldn't have done and added up what's in this build :D

TJ newbright body: $50
Laser cut parts (servo mounts, tranny mount, boat sides.): $40
Powder coating: $50
Recaro seats: $30
SCX chassis/parts: $50
CAC beadlocks: $100
2.2 rok lox: $80
Proline shocks: $100
Axial axles w/full RCP aluminum c's, knuckles, straight axles, upgraded lockers, etc.: $160
Axial tranny w/slipper and full metal gears: $65
GCM T-case: $80
Holmes handwound motor: $60
Winch and steering servos: $150
HH torquemaster esc (waterproofed): $100
SR3100 rx: $50

Comes to around $1200 total, plus probably about $100 or more in other bits (lights, holders, Al's anti-drift thing-a-mabob, decals, paint, styrene, links/rodends, servo plug extensions/adapters, center caps, wires, plugs, fairlead, laser cut winch hook, mirrors, etc.).

Really didn't think I spent that much. Hope my wife doesn't see this :ror:

Heading out in a couple of hours for the shakedown run!

Thanks!

i stopped counting and just enjoyed what i have, still very gratifying.

So, got out and wheeled it this morning. Performed quite well for it's first time out. Only a couple of minor issues popped up; steering servo screw kept backing out, so need to loctite it, and currently on the tranny to t-case linkage I only have plastic yokes, and the one stripped out. I knew I would have to upgrade those to steel, so not a big deal.

It's definitely a little top heavy. Survived a couple of rollovers, only broke one rearview mirror (little CA glue will fix that!). Will need to add some weight to the wheels. Crawled pretty well though for the most part, I'm quite impressed with the rok lox.

Anyways, a few pics:

Great pics of it so far Chris. Glad to hear it's doing well, if those are the only problems you run into your laughing.
Great job on the light lights"thumbsup". So how is your steering working out for you?
