So I found a Chevy Silverado SS body at my local Fred's a while ago and wanted to build my first trail truck. Its not going to be very capable on the rocks because of its high COG but it will look like some of the bigger trucks we see down here like at Trucks Gone Wild events and such.

Specs:
SCX10 Frame
Axial Axles
Axial Trans W/ Full metal gears and metal spur
2.2 Rok Lox mounted on 2.2 Jconcepts Tense BL'S
STRC shock bodies
Hitec 645mg Servo
Proline Rock Sliders
CC sidewinder on 3S lipo
Velineon Brushless motor
MIP Driveshafts
i'm sure theres others but you get the point "thumbsup"

Oh and by the way Just because its trailered doesn't means its a shelf queen

I skipped the pics of the basic SCX10 assembly like theres not enough pics of that

Here's a couple of body off pics for ya

Started the Body

Wanted to do a drop bed for all of the scale goodies don't laugh too hard this is my first attempt at using styrene I think it turned out ok.

First I removed the rear spoiler and cut the bed opening

I installed some angle that will attach to the bed

For coating it i used some rubberized undercoating i got from work to simulate rhino liner it turned out ok but was a little bubbly

Looks like your off to a great start, the bed is turning out pretty nice for your first try. That thing looks like it will be tall enough to park a crawler under it, LOL. It reminds me of the kinda truck I used to see out on the trails back home, and they were always fun to watch.

Interior

I've noticed that alot of people either ditched the interior or hacked the hell out of it i tried not to do that so much but i will say it is hard not to when trying to get a low COG

One trick I used was I cut under the rear seat and raised it where the spur gear was hitting and put some spacers there the helped alot with clearance

Here is a nasty pic of the cut out I cleaned it up alot before finally assembly

The seat raised just a little gap of sunlight showing through and alot more clearance

Got the tranny sitting nice and snug up there with just a little hump

Body mounts

Got the body finished and put back together time to mount it. I went with Velcro in the front and used some servo mounts I had laying around for the rear.

Used an existing screw to hold the styrene up front and covered it with velcro.

Cut the top off of the original body posts to give me a flat surface to mount the styrene and velcro on

Turned out good I like still being able to adjust the body mount up or down

Rears I had to cut the top of the shock hoop so the body could rest on the servo mounts.

After

Then I just lined up the body and drilled the holes in the bed.

Hey I was looking at these 2.2 Jconcepts Tense BL'S. How whide are they with Rok LOx's

Speaking of wheels

I didn't really like the bronze look of the Jconcepts wheels so I used some good all DG Oven Cleaner and Deanodized the rings and center caps then topped them off with some metal polish and a dremel polishing wheel can you say mirror finish:ror:

Don't get me wrong I've seen a ton of trucks even nicer than that one out in the middle of a mudhole especially at some of the events I go to. But I've seen that truck around so much without ever having a speck of dirt on it thats why i said that.

looks sweet! EVEN IF IT IS A CHEVY!

Sorry was raised to be a Chevy Boy :flipoff:

Looking good justin!

Dont be hatein' the ford, and btw, those are the 54" MT claws, and either dana 60s or 70's.

Thanks Clint! I know you've already seen it but hopefully should be adding so more stuff to it.

You got any updated pics since you did that small mod to the body that accommodates the interior? I have the same body and was planning on using a t-case and a GRU or planetary style transmission to get some of the weight up front and keep the body low.

There used to be a lot of these builds on here, and with some good searching you can find some great info. Nice job on the drop bed too BTW.

I plan on running 1.9s on droop, if possible, to help keep it low and looking mean. I have some build pics up soon enough.
