You are correct, you do have to cycle through the modes. Right now this is the only thing I am not 100% happy with on the radio. It will take a slight adjustment in driving to learn it but I am getting the hang of it quickly.

Just read this and want to make sure I understand in simple terms. To go to front dig I have to go through rear first? I just can't click to front or rear I would have t cycle through all the channels? Thanks"thumbsup"

Yes this is correct. It is the only hiccup to this radio, and something I asked to be addressed but wasn't able to get it done in time. For now, it is something that people will have to decide if it is worth the cost savings over the 4PK.

If you don't mind me ask you, what do you think?

I am going to get it installed in my rig and drive it. I see RCmart has them listed for $199.90, for that kind of money it is pretty hard to argue. Honestly I am asking them to do a software update to change it but I can't count on that happening for sure. They did do it for us on the 4PKS though so it gives me hope.

As is though, it is still a amazing radio for the money. A radio with 4 channels, cheap small recievers, and Futaba's support here on the boards it is a great deal. The 4PKS still has it's advantages but is twice the money. Hard choices ;-)

Damn, $199?

harley why do you rob me with logic and reason?

LOL, i mean how can one not see more than enough reason to buy one!!!

I was really hoping initally to have it hit around the $279-299 range but they really did a great job getting it done on the cheap! I am sure some of the people with the Tower Savings card stuff will find some ways to get great deals with free shipping and such.

Sorry to keep clogging your build thread with radio talk, but I don't see this being mentioned in your radio thread yet.

This isn't enough to keep me from buying it if I didn't already have a radio, but it is enough to keep me from trading my 3PM-X for it. I'm only using the Punk dig switch which the 3PM-X handles perfectly...not sure I'd be willing to give that up if this radio has this hiccup.

Clogging up one of my threads? :lmao:

I can totally understand that. It is still a great radio but it is a hiccup. I am really pushing to have it updated. People voicing their opinions on wanting it changed will only help my case "thumbsup"

I just watched your video. Is the hiccup only when using dual ESC's? In other words if I continue to use my punk, will it function the same as the 3 position switch I have programmed on my 3PM-X?

This price is killer, so I may have to get one.

Consider another opinion voiced "thumbsup" Do you have a recomended place to voice them too, or will you direct them to this thread?

Cost of the 4pk prevents me from getting one. I am currently using punk dig on a dx3r, but really want to go 4ch with two escs. The 4pl looked to be a great option for me, but that hiccup with my clumsy fingers is enough to keep me a 3ch punk driver.

Dual ESC specific only. It is special programming made to run dual ESC's. It will handle typical 3 position programming without a problem at all. The 3rd and 4th channels can be set anywhere from 2-200 position switches just like the 3PMx.

The battery life and display, cheap and small RX should make it a great upgrade from the 3PMx.

So what you are sayin, is that i can run my setup just like i do now w/ a 3R and punk,

but still have the open channel on this radio for the cut brakes?"thumbsup"

YES! Good idea BTW, I managed to forget that option

Thats my goal,

Use the novak M2 (which will give me front to rear proportioning) and have the 4th channel for winching on my berg. Winching isn't widely used anymore but certainly has its advantages in the right situation.

i Just checked rcmart and its $28 for shipping, So it would cheaper from them than Tower with the basic discount.

$228 for a 4 channel Futaba radio is BAD ASS!!

I'm really bummed that the dig mixing is not better thought out, but looks like a killer radio none the less, at least it will go from front to all in with one touch, so when you pull up something you can go right into all in with a little power applied.
