So Eddie, how many scale accessories will we need for the G6? Also, can I compete in both 2.2 Pro and Sportsman classes?? :D

I don't think that you need any...
from post#33
G6 Rules-
1. Run what you brung. No tire or wheel limits, no wheel base limit, but you need to have two scale frame rails or a rock buggy that is scale such as a wreckluse. No Twin Vertical Plate chassis's will be allowed.

2. The event is timed. Lowest time wins. Each flag adds a minute to your time if you touch one with your truck.

3. All obstacles must be completed in order. No "hand of God" help, and no bypassing. You much be winched, pushed or pulled through an obstacle. If you rollover onto to you lid, you must be winched over or pushed over using another scale truck.

4. Sections deemed "run your spare tire", means if you have a spare, you must put it on and run it for a selected area of the stage. If you don't have a spare tire, 1 minute will be added to your time.

5. No off course repairs. If you have to change a battery, fix a drive shaft, or whatever, you have to do it on course with the clock running. If you leave the stage at any time, you are disqualified. You are allowed to have your trail buddy run and get you a part or needed tool, but you and your truck must stay on course with the time running.

I also wanted to clarify something for the sportsman drivers in Ark/La/Miss.

At this comp, sportsman drivers will drive on the same courses as the pro but with more points and time, correct?

I'd assume that if a driver is running Pro & Sportsman that it would be fair to let them drive Pro first, then followed by Sportsman? How do you guys work that out? I know there is a big difference not having dig but some people might see it as pre-running. I'm asking because we have guys that drive pro and sportsman.

I just wanted to know how you guys handle this "thumbsup"

Ahh....ok. So, I assume that we will need to compete in teams....I dont have a winch, but I do have a strap (or, I will by the comp date  )...

That's what I thought at first.. that we would need to compete in teams. After relentless scrutiny from Szczerba I realized that it says you need a buddy for rollovers, and not an actual running mate.

I have to admit... teaming up would be fun!

Bring all the snakes you want, as long as they are dead. I like dead ones. Hell, I always wanted to try snake. Thought we should have a crawlfish boil. Get it, crawlfish; playing with crawlers; crawl. Oh, never mind. I can eat my weight in crawlfish. For ya'll that don't know me, I'm a large unit. Very large. Crawlfish, froglegs, gator, love it all.

The G6 thing is to have fun and hopefully be somewhat challenged on the trail. I'm not counting scale points or accessories to qualify.

If we run the same courses for 2.2 pro and sportsman, then no. It's one or the other in regards to class. I don't have the rock or time to run new courses for multiple classes. I'm really looking to have four challenging 2.2 courses with 10 gates in 5 minutes for the 2.2 Pro class.

In regards to the G6, some more info and updates:

There are 100 flags you must drive through. The orange flags are numbered to keep you on track. The orange flags will be on the driver side and the pink flag on the passenger side so that you know what direction to drive through them.

TEAMS! After more thought and discussion, especially since this the G6 stage will be open and running all day. Two person teams. NOTE: It is highly recommend at least one person has a working winch on your team! Each team will get one clip board, with a sheet of paper, a pen, and a timer. All you have to do with the pen and paper is mark each time you bypass something, hit a flag (although this is still up for discussion), etc. The timer starts as soon as you pass the start line and does not stop until you cross the finish line. After that, all time penalties will be added to your Team's time. After more discussion, bypassing of flags will be allowed with a two minute penalty added per flag.

Example: One obstacle consists of two flags, an orange and a pink colored flag, if those flags have you going through mud or water and you don't want to go through it, you can drive around it, but you will be assessed a 2 minute penalty added to your completed time at the end of the run assuming you finish the G6.

So we will have mud and water on the G6 stage. One section will have 3 obstacles through the mud. You can probably drive through it in 30 seconds, but if you bypass it, it will add 6 minutes in time penalties for the bypass. Now strategy can play into the G6.

Don't want to install you spare tire for a designated section, it's a one minute penalty. Because it basically takes a minute to change a tire on a scale truck. Just mark the minute penalty for the no spare tire change. There are no other penalties to keep track off, just time only.

Remember, No leaving the trail. No hand of god scenarios allowed. All repairs have to be repaired on course. if you roll over, you must be winched or pulled over onto to your wheels. If another team passes you, they are allowed to. Just like King of the Hammers, no one has the right of way on the G6. If you are stuck and the team passing you has to crawl over you, it is allowed. The only time the G6 will have to wait, is for the sections of the G6 that use the same rocks as the 1.9 and 2.2 course. If a driver is on course and the G6 rolls through it, the G6 team will stop there time and wait for the comp crawler on course to finish first.

This may change, but I am leaning towards classes based on either wheel size or tire height size.

ALSO NO COMP TIRES OR COMP TRUCKS ALLOWED ON THE G6. This is for scale trucks. I'm gonna allow some ghetto trucks into this event, I already know that. But a wreckluse with 2.2 SLW's and White dot Rovers is not scale. Cut N Shut tires are allowed. But I see no reason for a 2.2 tire bigger than a Pro-Line TSL. PLEASE GUYS don't make this any harder than it needs to be. We all know what is truly scale and what is designed for comp trucks. There is no gray area in the rules if you stop looking for one.

I would like to see teams and classes of:
G6 classes
1.55
1.9
2.2

I want the teams to be of the same wheel size. So if you have a 2.2, get a 2.2 scale partner. Same goes for 1.9. I know we will have a lot of 1.9's. We do have some guys running 2.2 wheels with 1.9 flat irons stretched over them and they look scale. The tire is still 4.25 tall so I will allow that in the 1.9 class. I am unsure if anybody has a 1.55, and I have no problem with a 1.55 and 1.9 teaming up.

This G6 thing is new for us. So I am completely open to comments and suggestions. If we can get a good format down, Crawler Innovations might possibly organize a big G6 event later in the future. The SORCCA rules just aren't going to ever work in there current form for our local club and the less rules the better in my opinion. I think that is why the G6 is working for so many different clubs across the country.

Stage layout:
You can expect everything. Flat wide open area, a dried creek bed with a lots of exposed roots and broken concrete in it, trails leading in and out of the creek bed, climbs through trees, 2 rope bridges, 5 rock piles, side hills, 2 water / mud hazards and we are still coming up with more. Our hope is to have a 30 - 45 minute long trail ride assuming you drove straight through it with no penalties added. We'll see if it works that way.

I would assume if a rig doesn't have a spare you can't for instance: Pull one out of your backpack and mount it, correct? That kind of falls in the "hand of god" category I'm thinking. I'm asking because I don't have a mounted spare, but a minute penalty isn't that big of a deal. I will be there to have fun.

Yeah...mine runs a spare and I plan to have it on for the whole course, so I assum I can just run up and not even stop at that section, correct?

I have already picked up the food for this Saturday. I bought 40 hamburgers & 80 beef hot dogs along with the buns, paper plates, plastic silverware, plastic cups, and napkins. We have one large tub of potato salad and one giant can of ranch style beans. We will have one 5 gallon filtered water dispenser in the garage and one 5 gallon igloo dispenser with tea set up in the garage.

We need some people to bring the condiments for the burgers and hot dogs, any desserts or extra snacks to share. If you don't want to bring anything but can donate some cash, please do so. We'll have a can for cash donations that day, or you can still paypal me, just send it as a gift with a note as to what it is for.

Extra tables and chairs are needed. We have one E-Z-Up being brought as well.

We worked all day this last Saturday as well. David H, Randal and David K came over and we got a lot done. We made a 14 foot rope bridge on Saturday, weed eated the G6 trail, added more broken concrete to the creek bed, cut down and burned a bunch more trees for clearing of the stage and walked most of the G6 trail. Hiking boots or shoes with good support and protection are highly recommend for the G6 trail. Pants will also be a good idea. Weather is expected to be clear and in the low 80's for Friday and Saturday making for a great time.

Shelby, Jeremy H, and Ashton are driving in on Friday. I am planning to take the day off Friday to get everything ready for Saturday. So if you are going to be in the area, feel free to come over and help or practice.

Also, for those of you driving in from out of Town, The Children's Park is a great crawl spot and not very far from my home. They have added more rock to the park since those pictures were taken. It's great for comp and scale trucks. Here is a link with a few pictures and directions:

Yes, that works for me. The spare doesn't have to be mounted to the truck.

Yes, you are correct.

Gavin's truck has a spare tire mounted to it, but our current thoughts is to take the minute penalty and just keep rolling through the stage. The plan is to have the tire change after the mud pit just to make it messy:twisted:. So having gloves or a towel on your person will be a good idea:ror:.

There is no penalty box or place to sit and wait for your minute penalty to pass by. Get through the G6 as fast as possible and all minute penalties will be assessed afterwards.

One thing still up for some debate is the minute penalties for touching the flags with your scaler while driving the course. I'm currently in favor of it, others are not. What are your guys thoughts?

80 beef hot dogs
my friend, you know what's up "thumbsup":ror:
Yes, that works for me. The spare doesn't have to be mounted to the truck.

thanks

I don't think that they should be counted unless there is a specific judge watching. You can't always see your truck hitting a gate marker where as a judge is constantly watching it. That might be tough to police. Who knows. I guess in the end I don't really care.

can we just fast forward to this weekend? I'm ready to get the fawk out of memphis so I can hang with my crew.

I can't wait to see you and all the other guys this weekend either"thumbsup". I'm praying things don't get any worse for you guys along the mighty Mississippi river. The news is reporting it's grown from under a 1 mile wide to over 3 miles wide in some parts:shock:. Our country has had so many devastating natural disasters already this year:cry:.

I hope things don't get too much worse too. Luckily I'm a good distance from the river or a tributary so we are dry in my neighborhood. A lot of major highways are being closed due to this crap too. A part of i-40 near Little Rock is even flooded so I'll be making my trek through Mississippi then crossing over at Helena to make it your way. "thumbsup"

can we just fast forward to this weekend?.
No kidding. Work is going to suck for the next few days.....:ror:

Oh, and thanks for the tips on some Friday crawling Eddie."thumbsup"

The paint is curing right now:
