In regards to the G6, some more info and updates:
There are 100 flags you must drive through. The orange flags are numbered to keep you on track. The orange flags will be on the driver side and the pink flag on the passenger side so that you know what direction to drive through them.
TEAMS! After more thought and discussion, especially since this the G6 stage will be open and running all day. Two person teams. NOTE: It is highly recommend at least one person has a working winch on your team! Each team will get one clip board, with a sheet of paper, a pen, and a timer. All you have to do with the pen and paper is mark each time you bypass something, hit a flag (although this is still up for discussion), etc. The timer starts as soon as you pass the start line and does not stop until you cross the finish line. After that, all time penalties will be added to your Team's time. After more discussion, bypassing of flags will be allowed with a two minute penalty added per flag.
Example: One obstacle consists of two flags, an orange and a pink colored flag, if those flags have you going through mud or water and you don't want to go through it, you can drive around it, but you will be assessed a 2 minute penalty added to your completed time at the end of the run assuming you finish the G6.
So we will have mud and water on the G6 stage. One section will have 3 obstacles through the mud. You can probably drive through it in 30 seconds, but if you bypass it, it will add 6 minutes in time penalties for the bypass. Now strategy can play into the G6.
Don't want to install you spare tire for a designated section, it's a one minute penalty. Because it basically takes a minute to change a tire on a scale truck. Just mark the minute penalty for the no spare tire change. There are no other penalties to keep track off, just time only.
Remember, No leaving the trail. No hand of god scenarios allowed. All repairs have to be repaired on course. if you roll over, you must be winched or pulled over onto to your wheels. If another team passes you, they are allowed to. Just like King of the Hammers, no one has the right of way on the G6. If you are stuck and the team passing you has to crawl over you, it is allowed. The only time the G6 will have to wait, is for the sections of the G6 that use the same rocks as the 1.9 and 2.2 course. If a driver is on course and the G6 rolls through it, the G6 team will stop there time and wait for the comp crawler on course to finish first.
This may change, but I am leaning towards classes based on either wheel size or tire height size.
ALSO NO COMP TIRES OR COMP TRUCKS ALLOWED ON THE G6. This is for scale trucks. I'm gonna allow some ghetto trucks into this event, I already know that. But a wreckluse with 2.2 SLW's and White dot Rovers is not scale. Cut N Shut tires are allowed. But I see no reason for a 2.2 tire bigger than a Pro-Line TSL. PLEASE GUYS don't make this any harder than it needs to be. We all know what is truly scale and what is designed for comp trucks. There is no gray area in the rules if you stop looking for one.
I would like to see teams and classes of:
G6 classes
1.55
1.9
2.2
I want the teams to be of the same wheel size. So if you have a 2.2, get a 2.2 scale partner. Same goes for 1.9. I know we will have a lot of 1.9's. We do have some guys running 2.2 wheels with 1.9 flat irons stretched over them and they look scale. The tire is still 4.25 tall so I will allow that in the 1.9 class. I am unsure if anybody has a 1.55, and I have no problem with a 1.55 and 1.9 teaming up.
This G6 thing is new for us. So I am completely open to comments and suggestions. If we can get a good format down, Crawler Innovations might possibly organize a big G6 event later in the future. The SORCCA rules just aren't going to ever work in there current form for our local club and the less rules the better in my opinion. I think that is why the G6 is working for so many different clubs across the country.
Stage layout:
You can expect everything. Flat wide open area, a dried creek bed with a lots of exposed roots and broken concrete in it, trails leading in and out of the creek bed, climbs through trees, 2 rope bridges, 5 rock piles, side hills, 2 water / mud hazards and we are still coming up with more. Our hope is to have a 30 - 45 minute long trail ride assuming you drove straight through it with no penalties added. We'll see if it works that way.
