I was able to go help Toy4crawlin tonight and get his front bumper built. I'm sure he'll post some pics. It's coming along for sure.

RCKJEEP built my front bumper and did a great job meeting my expectations, it took a few hours but other than a a couple minor changes due to it being a RC it came out almost exact!.

Next is:
Front light tabs, I got a bit excited and painted before I needed to weld thethem on.
Rear bumper
Battery holder/ fuel tank
Front cab interior, dash

Those pics of the front view make it look like the main hoop is smiling but I assure you it's the pics. Paint looks good, always liked that color.

Thanks. it's tough to decide just how far in detail to go even when it does not effect performance.
I just want to drive the rig already!

The front was a doozy to do, I took a wake at bends but Rckjeep did it right. He got it done in one night and I was so excited I forgot to add light tabs before I painted it.



I installed the battery tray and the Rear bumper is almost done. Pictured here with factory roll bar, it will be mounted to the body but supported by the frame in 4 places directly under the body.

1st pic SMD , 10ohm on just 5.3 volts

Uber lights, 150ohm on 5.3 v

Last pic is SMD light strip on 12v

:mrgreen: Don't you just love it when parts and space make a perfect fit! :mrgreen: My 3S G6 2100mah 25C Thunder Power $40. fits perfect between the chassis and the passenger seat. Gives better CG and forward weight of 147 grams!

Mamba Micro mounted on front servo
Need to add a cross bar from shock hoops to hold Receiver and Winch controller.

Rear bumper started. 3/16 Chromoly and 1/8 steel rod, I may add another bar across the back, not sure yet on tow points.

Winch hook and rope protector completed.


I shaved weight in the Recaro seats from 4.25 OZ to under 3.2 oz

thanks a bunch. maybe u could mod a 40 to a 60, i thought they had them, guess not.
Which 4runner? the 1:1 on ebay the scaler body is from bigbird.

The FJ40 has a totally different body than a 60. You'd have to find something close or make it from scratch, like the guy who did the Willy's pickup & wagon. Someone has a FJ55 I saw somewhere.

thanks man. You Know what, You are absolutely correct, so I picked up a Yota cast axle, it's a beauty:mrgreen: with a different gear ratio this will be a bit faster in front than a axial rear.

Thanks, yea the roll bar turned out pretty good considering the many tight bends in them.
The steering box? pitman is one of my favorite touches. with the axial xr10 steering I may need a longer Pitman, but if I go with the Yota axle, I dont think I will.


I could not wait to drive the new Runner so I taped the lipo in and slammed the body on (jently) without pins and had a blast:mrgreen:
Worked out some of the tuning along the way and even without the ESC being properly setup, like no Brake, or full power, half pwr reverse it still did great.

I still need to:
Glue in the headlights,
make a battery tray
Install winch controller
Receiver mount
finish the interior, dash, shifters, door handles, figures and so on
Fender wells
Install Headlights, marker lights,tail lights, Rock lights front Offroad lights
Paint and trim the body, 4runner door pillar panels
windsheild
keep body from lifting up off the body posts, since I am not using body clips.
