Ty's Super Rubicon

Made this real quick while on the customer service phone :ror: I think it looks good, going to add more off of it tonight.

How the heck did you do that while on the phone?! LOL. What are you planning on going off that?

Can you take a picture with the body off. i am thinking of doing one like this and want to see how the B1R and RX fit.

What is the WB on the Ripper body?

I have mine at 5.6 inches (110mm about) and it's perfect.

There is plenty of room, I could fit a normal size RX and a FXR in this if I needed to. I'll get a pic soon. The front of the chassis has been chopped off for better flex up front.

Just some pliers and cutters, bent it up real quick and drilled 1/16" holes angled into the bumper and pushed it in. I added side braces the other night.

That kinda adds a nice touch to the scaleness. Is that all you are going to do with it? Looks good.

I think that's it for the front, just a winch guard basically, for when I find one lol.

Next up is some sort of roof rack or light bar setup! I forgot how tedious this brass work was with bending the angles to make them look right.

Yep solder, decently strong at the right angles and it's really easy to make/fix. Made a roof rack for my 2.2 scaler 3 years ago and it finally broke a joint this month, which took all of 2 minutes to fix. I sand the joints down and then paint them flat black, looks awesome when it's done.

Great idea! Its like a mini welder. lol.

You goin to put some sleeping bags, tow ropes, etc. on the roof rack?

Made some more progress tonight, made a tire gate and light bar, then crawled a bit on the living room course.

FYI all the brass will be painted black or red when I decide on body paint.

Favorite micro build so far. This build made me buy another one tonite.

How did you mount the body. I see posts down low, (axial ?mm), and clips up top.
are you still using the utrail chassis?

Can you shoot some pics?

Thanks

Thanks guys! Yeah the gate swings out but it's not too sturdy so it's bolted to the body through the spare right now.

I'll get some chassis shots up this evening.

This build inspired me to buy that chassis and start on some type of scale build of my own, as soon as I decide what body. Thanks for sharing!

picked up a fleabay RTR last night. Also found the road ripper jeep for $15
ordered the u-trail this morning. I hope you dont mind but I'm going to basically build your truck, for me and my daughter to play inside with. It wont have a build thread or the scale goodies though. Plus I'm sure she'll want it HOT PINK and BLACK.

If you could get me part numbers or names on the top body posts and standoff you used for the sides I'd appreciate it.

What battery and motor are you running.

shock mods?

tire weight? I assume to offset that heavy body you have a bunch in there.

Thanks and keep up the awesome build.

I don't remember what the body posts were, honestly, I found them in my goodie box lol. The standoffs are Axial, I'm pretty sure the 7x15mm ones, AXA1311.

Battery and motor are still stock, however I do have an SMC 6.6V LiFe receiver pack that is 220mAh that should give me almost double the runtime and more wheel speed. Shocks are stock, just no springs so full droop setup. It flexes a bit too much, I'm thinking of limiting the travel some.

Tires just have 8-10 wraps of 60/40 solder all the way around for weight.

thanks for the info.

i picked up some 300mah lipos today at the LHS. CHEAP. hope they last more than a few cycles.

when all my parts get here it should be a pretty quick build.

Nothing new yet, looking for some suitable lights for the top, any ideas? Probably not doing LEDs on this one, too much to worry about breaking.
