our big problem is that we are not fighting a war that is limited to boundaries, territories, races of people; but of the ideology of the radical extremists.

replacing "beer" with "religion" in Homer Simpson's words....

" the cause and solution to all of life's problems"


we have enough religion to invoke war yet not enough to instill tolerance...

I don't think that self preservation has anything to do with political, national or religious affiliation. Fight or flight and the will to live is basic instinct... in all organisms.

I guess you could say that how a situation or confrontation is handled could be broke down into catigories such as education, belief system, values, religion, politics... what they had for breakfast. But not any single label.

HMM,see I have never understood how people who read the word (if they even do,or just what/listen)can say that religion envokes tolerance.

God enjoys battle,its apparent in his actions throughout the witness testimonies within the bible,ours and others.

Some people say that stops with jesus......hmm again,did they read rev.?
he sounds pretty pissed when he comes back.

The reason god enjoys battle iMO is cuz people tend to not need/or make time for himeunless they are on their last leg.....

IMO GOD dwells heavier on all the fields of battle,prison,and shelters

The problem with you fighting for a "just cause" point, is that EVERYONE is fighting for what they feel is a just cause.
The 9/11 hi-jackers no boubt felt to their core their "cause" was just, every suicide bomber, Timothy McVeigh, Anders Breivik, David Koresh all felt their actions were "Just" many believing they had their religion on their side.

Hell David Berkowitz (Son of Sam) thought he was talking directly with God (his dog), even now he refuses to apply for parole as he believes "Jesus has already made him a free man".

Lastly there is not a single army in the world that has ever fought a battle that didn't believe they were fighting a "Just cause".

Thing is though once your actually down on the ground amongst our service men and women, you hear time and time a again they feel that they need to do their duty but they don't agree they should be there (Afghanistan, Iraq etc).


Personally as a Atheist i believe that anyone that believes in any God is anything from brainwashed to mentally unstable, BUT as my Mrs is a devout Christian Orthodox it doesn't mean i don't value their other opinions and thoughts any less.
We all do the best as we can to get through this thing we call life.


What really does get me though is anyone with extreme views in anything.
A mate of mine recently started going on and on about how much he loved his Mrs, he started buying her flowers then moved onto jewellery, each time i saw him he seemed to get more and more fanatical towards his Mrs, to the point where i had a word with his family.
Turned out he was shagging another women and his guilt had turned into fanaticism.

To me that rings true towards anything people go fanatically towards.

I think you need to put the bible down and contemplate what an all mighty being really is and what its "wants" and "needs" really are.

the majority of people who don't like guns are liberals
the majority of people against the beliefs of organized religion are liberal
the majority of people who are against war are liberals

I say people put themselves in groups my association,and ideologies
No reason to shy from it,it is who you are


if your a thief,speeder,drive drunk,do drugs,act
you are a criminal,and put yourself in that group by your cations

not wanting war,or not wanting to tax ,or not wanting the death penalty put you in like minded groups IMO

Look its no doubt that the way the military is set up,your stuck once you are there........But they signed up for it,thats the reason the min enlistment was 4yrs.So you can serve under a commander and chief whom you agree with their ideas.
