It does. It's cocoa. That's one reason coffe is addictive. The cocoa and the caffeine. Cocain is derived from the cocoa plant. Hence the name
this is the problem..you are poorly informed..coca, coffee, and cocao are totally seperate plants, you will not do the legalize movement any good going out there with wrong info

And hold up. Are you calling me dumb because I smoke pot???? There have been no studies EVER that show marijuana causes any sort of intelligence problems. Get cha facts straight bruh!

Everyone says DIDDO in fla. and if someone would like to post a link to prove I'm wrong I will be happy to correct myself.

Maybe you should start. It might help you lighten up...

I don't care about Cocain or cocoa. I want marijuana legalized. I don't give a fawk about the other drugs since I've never needed or had any, ever and don't plan to. The problem with all other drugs is that they are physically addicting and extremely hard to get off of while marijuana isn't as hard to get off

i've been on the neurotin for a year, and it honestly works if i get all the daily doses in and the weather is good. the remicade is one of those things that gets tossed around quite a bit, but getting tossed around doctors in the way i do, if just kinda never happens. getting the referrals is tough, have to clear any new med with psych to make sure i don't end up shit creek in that regard, then get the referral through my family doctor, who then talks to mayo clinic. if one end doesn't get the memo, it starts all over again. tomorrow is a psych day, so going to see if i can hound again. i looked at a couple that i can't quite remember the name of, daily dose pills, the side effects were way worst than missing a dose. luckily, ma is a nurse, and i live at home for reasons that are pretty obvious. so things are moving forward.

How Does Marijuana Affect the Brain?

Scientists have learned a great deal about how THC acts in the brain to produce its many effects. When someone smokes marijuana, THC rapidly passes from the lungs into the bloodstream, which carries the chemical to the brain and other organs throughout the body.

THC acts upon specific sites in the brain, called cannabinoid receptors, kicking off a series of cellular reactions that ultimately lead to the "high" that users experience when they smoke marijuana. Some brain areas have many cannabinoid receptors; others have few or none. The highest density of cannabinoid receptors are found in parts of the brain that influence pleasure, memory, thinking, concentrating, sensory and time perception, and coordinated movement.1

Not surprisingly, marijuana intoxication can cause distorted perceptions, impaired coordination, difficulty with thinking and problem solving, and problems with learning and memory. Research has shown that, in chronic users, marijuana's adverse impact on learning and memory can last for days or weeks after the acute effects of the drug wear off.2 As a result, someone who smokes marijuana every day may be functioning at a suboptimal intellectual level all of the time.

Research into the effects of long-term cannabis use on the structure of the brain has yielded inconsistent results. It may be that the effects are too subtle for reliable detection by current techniques. A similar challenge arises in studies of the effects of chronic marijuana use on brain function. Brain imaging studies in chronic users tend to show some consistent alterations, but their connection to impaired cognitive functioning is far from clear. This uncertainty may stem from confounding factors such as other drug use, residual drug effects, or withdrawal symptoms in long-term chronic users.

Does this mean that ALL those who smoke weed are "dumb?" Nope. Does it mean that marijuana ABSOLUTELY affects your brain. Yup. Are those affects forever lasting? Unclear. But what IS clear is that you are GROSSLY misinformed & I doubt most pot smokers would want YOU as their ambassador. "thumbsup"

Indeed sir.
Not one recorded overdose of THC in history.....
How many die from nicotine & alcohol daily?
actually 4 reported deaths..not from the natural product but from marinol pills which has thc and other canniboloids..an example of how pharmacutical companies fawk things up

Easy to OD on pills. Not so easy when you've got to consume a whole garbage can full of green...mother nature FTW.

no argument from me on that, i am very pro mj"thumbsup", just pointing out fact..not enough facts here..lol..and yup leave it up to a pharm. co. to fawk something up or put a patent on something that works in its raw/natural unproccesed form..on the med use thing as far as im concerned the various states have allowed people to comsume mj under the guise of medical use in some part so they no longer have to deal with it criminally, i do believe it has benefits far beyond getting high to lots of conditions over pharmacuticles..i myself have 2 degenerated discs in my lower back, also tore up a knee many years ago and i do benefit from mj..i used to be an opiat addict so i pretty much stay away from pills, do i enjoy smoking regardless..yes

It's been a known issue for a long time. You'll learn to appreciate it after a while.

But more seriously, you won't ever see the government rail as hard against tobacco or alcohol as hard as they do against marijuana, even though a most people already know how bad the former two are for you.

There is also the Christian aspect. Anything that alters your brain is an open door to Satan.

This, the first part and the recreational legalization. As well as the stigma of the evil weed, reefer addicts and the very name "marijuana" from them evil Mexicans. It won't happen in any of our lifetimes.

Yes there are definatly some effects on the brain. Obviously. Here's the thing. The "side affect's" if you only smoke marijuana at the time an no other drugs, are minimal. Like it said the results are inconsistent. I've seen studies that show no ill effect on the subject and then like it says in what you posted, apparently it does make you less intelligent but it all has to do with what other drugs the subject may have used.

I disagree. Just a few years ago it was completely illegal. Now 17 states have legalized it. Progress. It only takes a few. As more and more states legalize it eventually all 50 will be legal and after that it will go to federal. Who gets elected will have a huge effect on the outcome though.
