Fat Girl 2.2 scale rock bouncer

Re: Fat Girl 2.2 scale rock racer

I'm totally jealous. Thats what I'm building/ buying for a fun rig next, a rock bouncing southern buggy with IFS.

Suspension is stiff. Definite rock bouncer. That will get some work. The link angles here are steep.

If you look at the wheelbase of the Wraith, IFS rig, and Fat Girl, the wheelbases are about the same. That means I should be able re-work the link angles and get them shallower. That will soften the suspension and improve performance.

Didn't I just send that out to you:shock:. Wow that was fast.

Looking forward to seeing you work your magic.

Did it land in one piece?

Re: Fat Girl 2.2 scale rock racer

Tore it down, put the belly pan on the abrasive belt to give it a nice brushed finish and countersunk the screw holes in the bottom of the pan.

Removed the RC4WD Rok Lox, cleaned the wheels, and installed RC4WD's X2 SS TTCs.

As tempting as it was to keep it blown apart to work on the suspension (I know the geometry needs work), I figure I'll run it at least once before completely tearing it down.

Still the best looking and scaled southern buggy ever built. Glad it ended up in your hands Jason all though I'm very jealous and that it will stay alive and used.

Re: Fat Girl 2.2 scale rock racer

The one thing I always wanted to do with this rig (well, one of the things!) was integrate in an SCX skid for better link geometry. The SCX skids were not released until after I had built this otherwise, similar to other builds I did after the fact, I would have run the frame rails below where the current skid is on the FG and put the SCX skid in there. Maybe something to consider in your re-build, depending how far into it you want to go!

Rock bouncing up Pillbox this weekend?

Caddy will be ready.

Sure.

I like it. I'm definitely not a fan of the spaghetti style southern buggies but this and DTP's Caddy are nice.

Funny, I just picked up a Wraith skid to fix the geometry. "thumbsup"
