Its just another day. Gonna handle it like y2k, but instead of being a kid myself and watching cartoons, ill be watching cartoons with my kids. Then the next day im gonna call my boss, laugh at him and spend the rest of the day doing yard work.

Fat fingered from the phone- Corey

My step sister and brother in law are doomsday people and have been for over 30 years it's nothing new. They have spent their lives and every penny they ever made preparing for the worst. They raised their kids in that negative culture and the kids are as negative maybe more than the adults. It's basically all they've focused on while life has literally passed them by like a soapbox derby racer on a LA freeway. It's been extremely sad to watch we have tried everything to break their focus but nothing has worked. The children have been the ones to suffer the most from their parents paranoia and distrust of society. To each his own it's a free country but the doomsday thing is more of an illness than reality IMO. I don't watch the show I've watched it first hand that's more than enough for doomsday me.

I'm all for being prepared, but some of the paramilitary-Zombie Apocalypse types worry me as much as a Doomsday scenario does. Some I have seen on TV aren't preparing in case something happens, they are hoping something happens.

Same here. I'm not worried about magnetic poles or asteroids or invisible planets or anything like that, but I am worried about the people who do worry about stuff like that. If anything triggers the bad stuff, it'll be the crazies.

You hit the nail on the head saying that they are "hoping" that something happens. Sadly I know religious people that feel the same way about Jesus returning to destroy the Earth, save the worthy and cast the unworthy into Hell...they want that to happen so bad I know that they can taste it.

WTF is "kinalin"? :ror:

If they want the earth destroyed and to cast the unworthy into hell... doesn't that make them unworthy themselves? Love they neighbor and all that jazz.

Yup. Sounds like they need to re-read John 3:16 a little more closely. :ror:

seriously, anyone stockpiling for a doomsday or the end of the world needs to get their head examined.

you want to be prepared for a natural disaster, that's one thing; but to stock up on guns and ammo for some fictitious zombie apocalypse or world-ending event is absurd.

get out and live life...you only have one chance at it, might as well enjoy it.

You live pretty far from the coast, I wouldnt expect anything but a power outage up there....maybe a little wind and rain.....certainly no reason to leave your home. "thumbsup"

It does take a pretty bad one to affect us, but Camile and Katrina both caused power and water utility shutdowns for a couple weeks. People get stupid then. If the stupidity gets bad, we will just head to the RV. I hope and plan to stay right here but A little prepping doesn't hurt and it all servers a dual purpose. The RV is also a deer/turkey/boar camp.

This is the kind of preparedness I could live with. If your current lifestyle makes you a bit more likely to survive, than great. But people spending their lives and all their money building bunkers and castles is bit out there for me.

We have been filling warehouses across the US with bottled water to sell on the 20th for inflated prices. $10 mil in inventory to be sold at six times the buying price. Thank you crazy people!

I cant wait to wake up saturday morning, call up those idiot friends I had growing up with the idiot families who prepped just for 2012... and just give em a big ole deeeuuurrhhhhh! "thumbsup"

How about the north Koreans sending us a care package?...we'll probably shoot it down, return the offer, then the Chinese get involved...this is how you end the world in a day.

Water shutdowns will only happen if the water is contaminated....and that usually only happens in storm surge areas...."thumbsup"

I have plenty of guns and ammo. Food for 3-5 days.
Guns and ammo for play.
Food if I'm hungry.
I live 23 miles from the White House.

Only prep I have to do is bend over and "Kiss my ass goodbye". :flipoff:

What I learned from my Grandparents whom lived through the Great Depression have guided myself. Guns and Ammo have been a concern. I have my share at this point. The food storage and basic needs have been a work in progress.
A natural disaster or economic issue has been the guide. I am not a Doomsday prepper by any means. But I was a Boy Scout and was always taught to be prepared. That said Protect your family and make sure your not going to be hungary when you are without for a week or two.
If you really want a reality check look at a food calculator to see what is a good sorce of info. Food Storage Calculator
