Kylar hit the nail on the head. The stock 5 speed is a 50/50 split and the center diff isn't active. My car has a 6 speed swap because I was worried about breaking the 5 speed with the 400wtq my car was making. The 6 speeds have an active center diff (DCCD) they also have a true limited slip front diff and the sti received the r180 rear diff which also has a true limited slip as to the r160 which was a VLSD which on all honestly is a joke and is basically an open diff for the most part. I had regretted not doing the r180 because I already exploded an r160... Took the the teeth clear off the spider gears. Apparently Subarus don't like to be drifted...who knew ? I finally stopped sliding the car like a boss and now the current r160 has been good. I contemplated finishing the full sti swap but I am more or less done with messing with my scoob... My attention is now with my Chevelle because that can be made into a real race car.
