I'm looking for a good hex driver set with the standard 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, and 3.0 heads. I have some cheap ones now that have good heads but the handles are small and I can't get enough torque for some screws.

Is there anything a little bit cheaper that's still good quality

I will have to second the MIP statement. I've bought 2-3 various cheap sets over the last 5 years and finally went with a set of MIP's. The metal is far superior to the cheaper sets, which equates to less stripped screws and tool tips.

This.

I bought 2 good sets from Losi and Associated over the last couple years and still ended up buying MIPs.

$24 from Amazon for the 3 piece metric set speed tip set. Add in the 3mm wrench and any 1/4 drive handle and you are only at $40 or so.

Amazon.com: Mip 9512 MIP Metric Speed Tip Set: Toys & Games

I've got some Hudy drivers that I've had for over 12 years and they're still good. You only need to buy quality once.

I'm going to hijack OP's thread since he found a solution.

I too am in the market for a good hex set -- the L-hexes I use are just too tough on fingertips after a few bead lock rings. You guys sold me on MIP but I would like to go with the Speed Tip set and choose my own handle. My question is this: what is a good quality 1/4" driver/handle? My requirements are a fairly compact profile, either a magnetic hex end or compact bit-locking mechanism to ensure the MIP Speed Tips don't fall out, and 3" shank +/-1".

Edit: This Wera is exactly what I want... but with a standard 1/4" drive hex. Does anyone know of something comparable?

Products - 1460 Kraftform Micro ESD pre-set torque screwdrivers (0.02-0.11 Nm) with quick-release chuck: Wera

Download their product catalog and you will find it. It's a big .pdf file so it will take about 3 or 4 minutes to download but there you will all they offer. They specialize in drivers and ratchets and have the good ole German engineering. I'm telling ya, I love my Kraftfor
drivers, they are very ergonomic with hardened tips.

Search the model and part number in Google once you find it in the catalog and you will find a vendor.

You aren't kidding about the PDF catalog size; 290 MB. I find it hilarious that this is the image Wera chose for their catalog download page. My response was about the same; "290 meg? Are you ****ing kidding me?"

Lol I was thinking the same thing! That's pretty funny!

Did you have any luck once you looked through the catalog?

I did, sort of. Wera does not make a 1/4" bit holder with their precision handle; you have to use their proprietary shank interface to have the smaller handle. Instead, I'm going to try their Wera 2054 hex screwdrivers in 1.5, 2, and 2.5mm. If they suck, I'll get the MIPs, but I have had outstanding luck with their 2067 T10 & T25 TORX® screwdrivers that use and abuse at work.

I think you will like them. I have the set .7mm through 3mm and love them. I hate using any other driver now because these things just roll so nice in your finger tips.
