If you are willing to risk it, you can avoid brown outs by disabling the low voltage cutoff. What happens is the battery gets sucked below the voltage threshold, so the ESC shuts off....the battery rebounds and the esc turns back on...

You have to be careful though as its easy to run the packs below the cutoff voltage, so I only recommend this for comps, where time limits should prevent you from running them too low.

After being hosed many times running tiny 500 mah packs I stepped up to 800-850 mah packs and never looked back.

Think these compact zippy 3s 500mah would be worth it? They are the same size as my 2s 860mah packs
Still new to this and not too familiar with what is decent anymore.
Looks like they have small wires, maybe 20g
