Turning Latrax Teton into trail truck?

Has anyone turned (or thought of turning) a Latrax Teton into more of a trail-scale crawler? I like 1/18 scale, like scale crawling and know that Traxxas is a good overall brand and like the price point. I'm wondering if even just changing up tires and wheels would do the trick.

As the owner of two tetons and dozens of broken parts I can say with a straight face that it is the biggest piece of shit on the market. ok maybe not the biggest. I could go through a list of issues, starting with diffs that last about 15 minutes. But I won't bother people with it.

Two open diffs and that truck cant get over a mole hill. Put the spool in the rear and you break driveshafts, put the steel driveshafts in and you tear up the spool. Thats assuming you put in something that last more the the 20 minute stock can in it.

It took a shit ton of money to get one reliable, enough that I should have bought a slash. But being the first rc in 20 years I had to start someplace.

Maybe you could take the front end off and make a IFS rig with a barrage rear end.

supposedly, they've fixed some of the issues with the teton, but if you want it to hold up under any stress, you have to fit diffs from the mini 8ight, or i've heard that Carisma diffs will fit if you can find them, either way, you're going to spend almost as much a 1/10 crawler and have 1/4 of the ability.

Good, honest thoughts and experience guys. This is an example of why this forum is such a great thing. Probably just going straight to something designed to be a trail truck like the Axial Deadbolt (for the price point) is the best choice eh.

Is that where you are at? Yeah you don't want to go the route of modding a Teton.

Now you are at a different question, which has been answered many times, but you might consider asking it in the newbie section to get more answers.

Entry=Lowest dollar best bang I would say dead bolt or a MSTCMX

Best value=needs the least upgrades out of the box ascender (I don't have one but people I know are very happy with theirs, ask around)

I like the dead bolt as an entry, with new wheels, tires, aluminum chubs/lock outs, metal tranny gear and links. My kids has run like that for a year and a half now with no issues. We replaced the above little by little for under $100.00.

Another option is without spamming get your post high enough to see the for sale section or but a star, then get something used. Maybe set a budget and place a wanted ad in the wanted section.
