Possibly, I went back to using the stock spool holder because the 'other' style doesn't fit where I want to put it.





CR-10 is still having issues too. Maybe 60mm/s is just to fast. :shock:

I have had blurps like you pictured, on occasion. A lot of times I notice that it was something that just cleared out of the nozzle or over retraction that caused the chamber not fully prime, or over retraction where an air bubble got sucked up into the nozzle and burped out.


Did you happen to notice if there was a darker mark, almost like it was burnt in the print? I normally see that when a clog clears out. I should call it a clog as much as the burnt filament seems to be thicker and require a higher temp to flow as expected.
 
Didn't notice it, but it is black filiment.

It's happened in the exact same spot on all of the benchy's i've printed with it in the past week, so I don't think it's a clog. I'll look at it when I get home.

I would guess not. Try this. can you mirror an object in your slicer? Mirror it left to right. If you get the error on the mirrored side it would be a good bet that it is a slicing issue and not the printer.
 
Seems like a lot of folks go with the Monoprice printers. I was actually considering a Creality Ender 3. Anyone have any feedback on that particular 3D printer?

Cr10 is great, I here great things about the ender 3, but no personal experience.
 
I can’t say anything bad about my monoprice select plus.
Great results OOB, did a micro Swiss and fan mod, prints PETG easy as PLA .
I’ve got under 400. As it sits.

Thanks for the feedback. After some further research, I decided to go with the Ender 3. Just placed my order so should have it in a couple weeks. It will be my first 3D printer so looking forward to it. Figured I could always pick up a Monorprice unit around Thanksgiving sales if needed. For less than $200, couldn't resist any longer.

Congrats! The Ender 3 is on sale at Banggood for $180. Sounds like you got yours for around that price though.

The bodwen setup on my cr-10 has been giving me issues on larger prints, so i went direct mount and titan extruder. Installing/building it was a pia because you have to assemble everything on the printer, then put the screws in.:evil:




It has the same 'issue' that my mpmini had after extruder calibration. Esteps are correct, extruding 100mm = 100mm, but it over extrudes like crazy when printing. My flow rate is set 75-80ish on both printers in cura, :shock:
 
RC4WD Bigdog Trailer

I decided to print some wheel inserts for my RC4WD Bigdog trailer. The stock 1.55 foams would compress under its own weight, then if you put a car on the trailer, the tire looked flat. Now the tire works much better and still has give. Next, these hubs are terrible. Constantly coming loose. Bad design.

I think I have a winner, lol. Will probably print another one with the settings adjusted for strength and quality, but it seems like it should work pretty well...

Looks perfect!

Any chance I could talk you into sharing your STL? I started working on the exact same thing but got distracted never actually did it.
 
I printed a few sets of rims for my Barrage. They are much better than the cheap plastic stock rims. Now if I could only figure out how to get the tires off the stock rims without destroying them.

Acetone can work on many rims without melting. If your rims don’t soften with acetone, pour a quart in a bucket, hang rims and tires above acetone, cover and sit overnight, peel them off next day.

It’s the vapor that works here

I've had good luck removing them using an oven, not the wife's though. Here's how I do it

Pre-heat oven to 325.
Cover a cookie sheet with tin foil.
Bake tires for 20 mins.
Remove from oven
Quickly break the bead surface of the side that is facing up.
Place tires back in the oven for 5 mins with the other side facing up.
Remove from oven and completely remove tire from wheel.

Remember this will be HOT so I would suggest using some leather gloves when handling.
