ECX Barrage upgrades

For those that might care, the RGT body is a drop on fit. Body post holes and all. Looks better IMO than the truggy body to me.

Needs a little trimming but I like it a lot better.

Are there any plastic model kits that will work as a hardbody? I bought a sweet Datsun model kit, but its way too small.

Hmm, interesting and different, but also huge and wonky. The mini Gelande V2 transmission swap seems like a far better option.

It could be made more compact if anyone wanted to further the concept. I like my HBX/Sumo tranny just fine but it’s extremely slow.

Most agree the V2 transmission is a good balance between speed and slow speed crawling, as far as the sumo HBX trans they are GREAT on 3s lipo with the right ESC.

If any of you guys is interested I designed a base and motor plate/cover so that you could use a losi micro transmission with 130/180 motor on you barrage. I posted it on my Shapeways account under gamyrc. You would need a base losi trans to complete the swap but I dont know of any other trans upgrade that would allow for so much power for the little guy. I am working on fixing the stock tans issues as well but its a bit of a pain because of gear location but Ill give it a shot.

I finally got my *driveshafts* from China for the WPL models to use on my Barrage. They are surprisingly made of steel and not aluminum. Found that out when I cut them down to fit the Barrage chassis. So far so good on the trail run. I’m sure they’ll last longer than the U joint chunking OEM shafts.
