1 week shipping to The Netherlands, anything above roughly $24,- is charged with import fees [emoji20]... but for $1,99 flat fee shipping I can order multiple smaller amounts
Well ...I am not sooo pleased ...ordered stuff for 60$, paid 5$ transport and got a supplement transport charge of 30 EUROS !!(roughly 34$)

That was the second and last time I ordered stuff in the US ..thats for sure!

Sounds like your countries postal service has become greedy. AMain would have paid what the charts said for post to you.

Probably VAT and import duty.

amain has a very good and fast shipping not longer than 7-8 days to germany and the 1.99 option is out standing.
I wish rpp have this option too.

The wired thing is every order from the states that is over 25€ incl. shipping i have to go to the customs office and pay addional money, never have to go to custom if i order from china (rcmart atees bg ...), regardless the value.

F**K custom .. we need free trading

What is VAT, is that what will go away in the UK when it leaves the EU?

Value Added Tax is what the UK and EU countries charge on goods coming in to the EU from outside of th EU. Basically a 20% tax. That's why UK/EU guys don't like to buy from the US. Shipping plus VAT, import duty and handling fees add up to be a lot. When buying a new RTR can easily add an extra $150 to the total. It's cheaper to buy from an EU based dealer if possible. However the US stores usually have stuff first. So I usually end up buying from the US for new trucks so I can start work on new products ASAP. In the past buying from Hong Kong could be cheaper as the UK customs didn't always bother to check/charge goods from the east for some reason. From the US they will always get charged. Not sure if this is true anymore as I haven't ordered from HK for a while.

We will still have VAT after we leave the EU. Once goods are inside the EU boundary no VAT is charged from one EU country to another.

You didn't pay anything extra on your goods from the UK as the US customs doesn't charge you anything extra on goods from the UK.

This is the import/VAT rules.

Seems both of our countries don't want us to buy from the US and prefer us to import from the east...

Same for The Netherlands, above € 22,- will get charged when coming from US. Coming from Asia I never had extra import and/or VAT charges.

So I buy my SSD parts from RC Mart because that’s cheaper then buying from within EU... which is kind of weird being SSD is in UK [emoji2955]

VAT has been around for ages. I believe it applies for most things bought in europe. I recall paying it for a clutch on my moms jetta althought the parts were not imported. Everything in grocery stores and most things in supermarkets do not have VAT, but have nn already includes tax.

Alright, I'll say it. My last order from Amain took 8 days, and I'm in the same state! Though 5-6 days has been more typical. It's been the same with RPP, and Tower Hobbies for that matter. Yet, somehow, when I order from stores on the East coast, I generally have my order in 2-3 days. That's not really a knock on any of them as the orders where packed/shipped within a day, so it's entirely in the delivery service's hands, but I'd be lying if I said that it wasn't a factor when deciding where to order from. I'd understand if I lived in BFE, but that's not the case.

This, somehow their Ebay store can manage to ship proper time. RPPHobby is way faster shipping, 2-3 days at most. Also order from couple places back east that manage 2-3 days delivery even with free or $3 shipping.
