The unofficial official axial portal buggy.

When I said $40 less I meant $40 less than the $120 ProTek 150T.

Ahh, got it, your post was clear, if only I'd read it a little closer. I've used a few of their servos in on-road applications and have been disappointed each time, as a result I've been pretty gun shy on equipping my crawlers with their stuff. I had been using Hitec 7950s for years in crawlers, took a chance on the ProTek a while back due to high voltage, similar torque, and faster transit speed and wasn't disappointed. Giving a 3Bros G13 a shot for my Capra build, who knows what it'll be next time.

No worries. I misread posts all the time myself.

Just an FYI - the 3Bros servo is a Holmes Hobbies clone which has the same flaws as V1 Holmes servo. The one JX servo is also a Holmes clone with the same issues.

I've been running the Micro X in a 8lb+ Wraith for quite awhile now using both a standard size 1800kv Revolver, and a 2700kv sensored Stubby motor which will be moved into my Capra soon. The Micro X runs a bit warmer with the stubby, but nothing to be concerned with (can still hold my hand on it.) Should be a non-issue in a car that's lighter weight (I'm anticipating 5.5lbs rtr for my Capra, at least until some knuckle weights become available!) I'm pretty certain the "crawler edition" just uses solder posts instead of having the motor leads soldered direct to the board like the first version, with no other differences except $2 in price. I use the first version.

Hmm... I have no idea where the post I was replying to went, guess I should have quoted it!

Rear steer anyone?

Looks like if the wb was stretched out a little it could clear up the clearance issues.

Capra is making quite the pre-release impression!

Ahhh yeah that was mine.. I was just responding to hibbs by mentioning a couple differences between the Mamba Micro X regular and crawler versions, but then noticed that he had indeed got the crawler version.

Hadn’t planned on another rig this year, but with the RC4WD Lake Kaweah event next month.. I don’t know if I can hold out.. [emoji51][emoji848][emoji2371]

Thinking i’d pair up that new Tekin BXR with a Holmes Puller 500 Team motor, and add a Protek 370TBL for steering duties. [emoji1591][emoji631][emoji1591]

I planned to run a Mamba Micro X Crawler + Holmes Stubby 2700kv as well, since it looks like a good balance with the wheel speed and being able to adjust via the limited gearing. I'm also interested in trying out the Stubby anyways and this seems like a good rig to try it on. The only thing I'm scared of doing now is turning on my 4PK to try and figure out how to set up the dig servo :ror:.

Duratrax is a Horizon brand so not too surprising on what I believe is a Horizon employee's car.

X2 "thumbsup"

I'm still frustrated with the battery situation, but I already have an old Reaction 2S shorty pack I'll use for a while. I'm going to want to go up to 3S ASAP, but I don't want to order things now not knowing if they will fit or not.

I'm so ready to get this truck on the rocks!!!

I'm trying the newer ProTek 3s 4100mah LIHV, would assume Horizon will release a pack soon too, otherwise HK and sevearl others make small 3s packs, I love this battery size! :)

Maybe CIs or PLs OR a new foam from Duratrax????

That's what I'd use. "thumbsup"

The front is the only visual part that I really don't like.

3d print a grill (see that you're already designing Chevy C10 grill, it unbolts, super easy to fit once printed or styrene fabbed. :)

Build a bumper with a skid plate. Easy peasy and the look is changed.

Agreed.

I get where you're coming from, but from my perspective on things, it's the front end and the way the front corners of the cage tubing is arched. I'd really have to study one in the flesh for a while to figure out how to change that with something that bolts on but clears the suspension and tires...

Make a bumper/grill, inner fenders, tube (Jeep style) bolt on 'fenders' would all change up the look.

That brings up a question: how many volts can the included light bar handle? Can I run it off of 3s? If not, can it at least handle 7.4v?

IME usually Horizon Hobby sets up lights so that they run off receiver voltage and plug into the rx. "thumbsup"

No, but waterproof servos are way overrated IMO. I don't run them. And I've only smoked one non waterproof servo due to water and it was from HobbyKing.

Agreed "thumbsup"and I've burnt up a waterproof servo that had an out of place gasket from the factory that I didn't catch. :ror:

Reedy makes a Wolfpack shorty that is 3s, 3000mah, 30c for about $45. I have been using them in my Enduro and like them. also it's a hard case

Do all of the servo saver pieces for the dig servo come in the kit? When I look at the parts in AXI232016 it does not include the splined portion that actually attaches to the servo. Then I see that the missing component IS included IF you buy the suggested SX107 servo, is that really the only way to get that piece?

Unfortunately yes...there are some many different micro splines and variances that for us, using the servo we already had was the route to go. You can still use another micro if you decide to, you'll just have to use a solid arm link without the servo saver. You should be fine as long as you set the end points correctly.

What’s the spline count? I didn’t find it readily available when I searched and pics are too fuzzy to count them.

Four wheel steering + dig. Is this something hardcore crawler types combine when modifying? Almost seems like overkill In The steering department.

So SCX10iii is rumoured to be out in the near future. Fair to assume DIG will find its way onto that platform?

Lock the rear and turn your front axle left or right then put it in reverse.. Its a nice pivoting tool there, or sparingly use it for breakover traction. Dig is better than rear steer if you ask me.

But having rear steer and dig? Thats the fun part.

I follow you. So is the effect of dig going to be significantly different than an underdriven rear axle with regards to steering? Effect meaning, the desired direction of travel

Just trying to wrap my head around how each of these features may compare in that regard.
