The unofficial official axial portal buggy.

I too have RPP tracking. I’m on east coast so fedex says 10-4. Hopefully it’ll be a little sooner but I have a date!!

So where are the builds gonna be posted in the mean time? We don’t seem to have an official forum section for them do we?

Same thing mine says, usually I have parts in about 3 days from RPP to SC. So I’m hoping It’ll be here quicker than it’s showing.

Can someone answer my question back a few posts?
My LHS has one on hold a couple miles away and theyre open for another hour.
Thx in advance.

I'm thinking the Capra, set up right, will fall somewhere between the capabilities of a scaler and a comp rig, hopefully closer to a comp rigs performance...?

With dig, portals, front OD gears, some wheel weight up front, etc, how close can the Capra come to crawling as well as a comp 2.2 MOA?

Is there still a huge spread performance wise from shafty to MOA, or is the gap tightening?

Sorry if its a dumb question, the 4-5 rigs Ive owned have always been pretty basic shafty's, and always Axial.

Ive never had an MOA, Dig, portals, or OD/UD gears in any of my rigs.

Maybe I'm not asking the right question.

Just wondering if I'm going to be blown away before I drop the coin?

There's no way it would touch a well built MOA. But, unless you're trying to compete at a world level, it looks like the Capra will be more than capable enough. I would guess with some basic tuning the Capra will drive circles around pretty much any shafty rig available now.

Edit, fixed my typo. Don't build and type

It won't come close to a MOA but it should kill any other scaler that comes from a box currently on the market. All the top comp guys I know tend to agree that if shafty had an electronic dig/burn like a MOA they would dominate. We don't have that technology as of yet though.

My capra will be here Monday so I'll know how it does soon enough. I already have parts sitting here to make it better than most out there.

Would you happen to know a hex to hex measurement on these axles? Something tells me these axles are the new gold for a lot of people.

Mebbe... I hope it is stiffer than the ssd rear portal I put together last night.

XR width. Not sure if its exact or just close. Yeah, I see some fun new comp parts coming soon, especially with a factory dig.

Don't forget about that no talent ass clown in the PNW when it comes time to work that over. I'll figure out if parts swap over between VP portals and these. If so there is already a machine shop working on a set of brass portal covers for me. :ror:

Still no Capra section...

Mine says delivery today, but tracking hasn’t moved since 7:30AM so my hopes aren’t high right now.

Found a build review vid that was just posted this morning:

I'm pretty sure he was the guy on Facebook that said the top of the portal doesn't get a bearing when the instructions clearly show that it does. LOL

For those wondering what paint was used in the red Capra build it was Tamiya spray paint
Ps5 and ps2 for polycarbonate

That guy doesn't come across as being overly knowledgeable. He's like a slightly less annoying medic.

Are you talking about Ottman?

And on another note, I would like to see Del Monte take a Capra to a qualifier and see how well he does in pro class. My bet is he at least beats White Trash.

 sporty maybe, but not in pro.

Medic is rcsparks old screen name. He used to be a club dj that went by dj medic.
