Lifting the New Jeep JK

Just curious as to why the swap?

1. I'm going to get some 37 inch tires as well as my 35's and don't think that a rear 44 will hold up very well.

2. I'm all about looks and want everyone to see my "perdy" Dana 60.

3. I have lots of money and don't know what else to do with it all.

Yeah, I had 44's on my 97 TJ running 35's with no problems. I did'nt know if people were having problems wit the new 44's

I still think DUDE could answer these questions better. He's been wheelin since 1985 and is a traditionalist.
But here is my thought. You can break anything at any time. I've seen people blow up 44's running 33's.
I broke a 31 spline 9" shaft with 35's on one of my TJ's with the stock engine and a 3.8 atlas. I think the Rubi's 44's will do fine with 35's but it's still a big tire...and with the 4:1, it is very possible to break a shaft, which isn't the end of the world...but I'd like to just throw in a 60 cause I can.

Understood, do you think 44's f/r will hold up to 35's amd mild trails?

These axles are much stronger than people think. You should have no problem runnig 35's and doing just about anything. The weak link are the axles tubes. Unless you plan on jumping you Jeep I would not worry about it. Also, the JK axle tubes have been strengthend from the TJ version. If you really want 37's get some chromoly shafts and be done with it.

60's are for LEADFOOTED REDNECKS:-P

hey Dirk a couple things first since I've seen your name pop up over on JK-forum (and now I realize it IS you) I'm sure you prob know about the track bar brackets on the axles not taking the added leverage from "raise" brackets, if I were you I'd loose the brackets and get some adjustable track bars. and how can they call it a "long arm" since it uses the stock upper mounting ? longer lower arms only seems to be a quick way for them to get a "long arm" out on the market. how dose it actualy work with pinion angle and flex steer and such ??

oh just for the hell of it here is a pic of my rubi on 35's taken a couple months ago....

All good points. Adjustable trac bars will be in the near future, however, I am pleased with how they incorporated the new brackets on the factory brackets. The rear also has an additional cross member that adds stength. It's more well thought out than you think. Now....it might not be as hardcore as a Rubicon Express system but it IS a huge improvement over stock. All the control arms are adjustable with captured rod ends so it was very easy to dial in pinion angles, etc. I have no vibration or any kind of flex or bump steer at all.
Another benefit is that Skyjacker wanted to make a 4 inch long arm kit that didn't require new drive shafts or any modification to the drive train and still provide very good travel. They seemed to have accomplished this and the others have not. I know there are some benefits to going more extreme, like the RE kit but I just felt that the Skyjacker kit fit what my needs were.

cool as long as your happy with it that's all that matters....just wanted to make sure you know about the track bar "issues" that people have been having.
