Stainless 3mm screws and Lock Nuts

I've only ordered a drill bit from McMasters before, and I'll say shipping wasn't bad at all just for a single bit. I havn't compared prices though with hardware because I've been happy with MF.

I just ordered 100 3mm lock nuts from Fastenal, .04 cents apiece."thumbsup"

Nice, I have been getting a bunch of my hardware from them!

@ .04 cents I assume they were the regular steel ones...?

I bought a bag of 100 1" 3mm from them, good pricing for black oxide!
They also have the two flute 3mm tap that works much better then the ones at the hardware store.

I will have to get them to order in some stainless!

What about Rcscrewz.com or hexcrews.com

Though I'd never use Stainless screws, their heads are weaker than black oxide steel and strip too easily even with good tools.

Really?

My link mounts are single sheer on my 2.2.

I haven't broken a screw yet but I have bent them.

I had thought the stainless would take care of the bending.

Then again, a bent screw is better then a broken one. :badger:

I just have the local Fastenal order me whatever I need. They're super cheap and get the stuff in a couple of days if they don't have it in stock."thumbsup"

Bighead screws on ebay has been where I used to get them, but they are too soft and the heads stripped super easy. now Fastenal only

couldn't agree more. i've never had good luck with stainless. another great source for screws is metricspecialties.com they have it all, even the super tiny 2mm stuff when you need it.

'single shear' eh wheelchair? sounds like someone else reads 'engineering to win' by carroll smith. "thumbsup"

Stupid Fastenel doesn't stock Metric in my area. That's just absolutely retarded.

I have three other fastener specialty stores in my area that do carry metric.

I say try a local fastener shop, you get that good service thing cause they're happy someone actually walked in the front door.
