I got a little more done on the axles. I got to spend some time programming and setting up the wire EDM machine at school and got the main shape of the front mount plate cut out. then I ran my MasterCAM program for the center hole and the bolt circle. The outer housing was hand cut then bent and brazed.

I finally got the rear axle mostly done. It just needs the cover brazed on and the mounts made up for the links. The shaft is solid 8mm stainless (not sure what grade) so I don't think Ill have any problems with that. Its set up for 17mm buggy hexes at the moment. I also made the spool out of some 1" stainless bar stock since the traxxas spools wouldn't accommodate my massive shaft  on to the goods

Those are turning out awesome! What center section are you running on those? What track width are you going for on those?

Keep it up!

The ring and pinion are from a t maxx and the third members I custom made. The axles are 13.5" from bearing to bearing so with the he es probly 13.75"

Once you get the cover brazed on will you still be able to take it apart for servicing? I see that the slots for the ring and pinion shaft dont line up when the axle is installed. How do you get at the grub screw to remove the axles?

i think once you unbolt it he would just turn it and it would line up to pull out

lol I actually came up with a cool solution for that. I drilled a hole in the cover and brazed a nut on the inside so I can put a small bolt on the cover that looks like the filler hole plug. the hole is big enough to slide the pin through. I already tested it and it work pretty good, but hopefully the only service ill ever need is some lube:mrgreen:

I just saw those today, I may have to change my tire choice"thumbsup"

Holy sh#$ balls! those are nicer axles than the spidertrax rc4wd makes.
well I tried to build mine exactly the same way as the full size spider 9's:mrgreen:
