1929 Ford Coupe Hot Rod

Nah I will be going to the Power Tour in Springfield IL and then Chicago's Hunnert Car Pile-Up in the fall.

Hunnert Car Pileup is in Decatur IL this year!!!! That's a 20 minute drive from my place!

Coupe came yesterday!!!! Sadly my Mom is smarter than I am and this video proves it....she is old as hell so it probably comes from experience driving an original Model A hahaha.

Camera ran out of juice before we got it started. The air passing into the engine completely evaporated out the gas in the carb. Once that was set, she fired right up. Gotta tune her now since it's running at a difference of 4,000 ft of elevation from CO to IL. More video to come by tonight.

Had some electrical issues. I feeex!

Looks good man. Wish my current customer would let us set his 32 chevy that low."thumbsup"

Any updates? How's the car doing? By the way, I didn't see it mentioned, I assume you're running an automatic? TH350?

I've FINALLY started my search for a Model A body so I can start on my project. :)

Trans is a Turbo 400 out of a '78 Suburban. I'm still working some bugs out but it runs great otherwise. Got some car shows coming up that I'm going to enter. Should be fun.

If you don't mind me asking, why did you go with a TH400? Seems like a lot of tranny to put behind a flathead. Did it require an adapter kit?

On another note, I'm still debating how low/chopped I want to go with mine. How comfortable is yours and how much of a pain is it to get in/out? I assume the quick release on the steering wheel really helps! I was thinking of a 3" channel (since it'll be a homebuilt frame), and maybe a 3 or 4 inch chop. I'm also hoping to run as small a transmission as I can to keep all the interior room I can, but we'll see how well that works out. ;-)

Motor and trans were bought that way so to save money we just put it in like that. It's not the most comfortable as far as room inside but it's not as bad as I thought either. Getting in/out isn't an issue at all. It's definitely a challenge to see traffic lights....haha! If I didn't have the cowl steering I would have more leg room. I have to tuck my left leg behind my right to have room for braking. That's really the only uncomfortable factor.

Ever heard of Voodoo Larry in Chicago? He's like 6'4" so he sections his frames instead of channeling alot to make more interior room.

Gotcha. You may want to check. I didn't think a flathead and a TH400 would bolt together so you may have a pretty valuable adapter in there. "thumbsup" No rush, but whenever you get chance, I'd love to see some pics of someone sitting in it. Now that I'm leaning more toward a coupe than a sedan (and dealing with less interior room), I'm trying to get as educated as I can regarding having a reasonably comfy interior.

Hadn't heard of Voodoo Larry, but just checked out his site. Interesting stuff. Are you saying he basically uses the body as a frame member, presumably reinforced?

No just a skinnier frame and less channeling. I'm 5'11" and I could definitely use more leg room. Sedans are every bit as cool and offer more room. Way down the road I'll have a sedan as well just because I like them both so much. I seriously just flipped a coin to pick a coupe.

Well, I don't intend to hijack, but I've been busy lately and last night I finally put a deposit down on a '30 coupe body and Deuce rails. Heading up to Kansas this weekend to pick it up and then the fab work will begin! I'm just a wee bit excited. ;-)
