2 day Trail event for scalers in Marseilles, IL

I wanna check out some of the 1:1 comp.
I was also thinking about the NIRC comp.
Maybe we run all morning, charge the lipo's and then run some gates on the better terrain we find.
I think a little non season mini comp could keep the day going. Maybe we do the honor system and cannibal run style it

Yeah we talked about that we could bash a bit, but also do some comps such as pulls, and run through some gates. Just more for the challenge of it than necessarily keeping score.

There's not 40 feet of grass.

Yup.

There is an Illinois State park in Marseilles, but I'm sure you can't have alcohol there. ALso there is starved rock, but might be hard to get some spots, and it has no alcohol either.

Four Star Campground - Marseilles, IL
Troll Hollow | Home

Those are two of the nearby campground, but look much more family oriented.

There is also in town a Glenwood RV resort, but don't see a website or anything about it.

Maybe we should just pick a different spot to camp that's close and is more like real camping. Illini state park is close. I read their rules and regs and there is no mention of alcohol at all so we should be fine. There are plenty of real camp spots spots, we could get multiple spots together. Vehicle limit is 2 per camp site. 4 people per campsite max. Probably no more than 2 tents per site. I can reserve three sites with sequential numbers and assume they're together, or at least close. Do we need three? Or two? Or what?

That'll work too. "thumbsup"

Section 110.20 Alcoholic Beverages - Possession, Consumption, Influence

It shall be unlawful for any person to possess or consume intoxicating beverages, including beer or wine in any Department-controlled property which is posted with signs indicating that such possession or consumption is unlawful.

(Source: Amended at 24 Ill. Reg. 12556, effective August 7, 2000)

Just need to do a little more digging.

Edit: None allowed in camping areas. Ugh.

I went camping in a National Recreation Area last fall in Kentucky and didn't think twice about it. No one ever said anything and we had beer out in plain site. I don't know, maybe we shouldn't even worry about it.

We could probably keep the beer on the DL but didn't JetBoat say they don't allow rc's in the state parks either.. right?

I do know that Starved Rocks won't allow alcohol, but not sure if it applies to all state parks or not.

I do know that a few years ago I got sucked into going to the Indiana Dunes, and no alcohol there. State park up in Wisconsin does allow.

Probably should just call.

No Beers at Starved Rock: DNR

Alcohol is ALWAYS prohibited in the campground. There is a camp store open in the campground that sells firewood, ice, soda and other camping supplies.

EDIT: Just saw your post Zero

Looks like you guys are on the right track. "thumbsup"

Booze is a plus but, I don't drink a lot so, I wont have a problem sneaking a small quantity.

If were gonna end up camping in or near the parking lot, that might suck. Id rather stay in the truck at that point.

Id like a real camping spot where we could hear nature and not be around hundreds of people slamming car doors.

Some of the time were talking about potentially being bored could be spent traveling to where we want to be. Camp site to watch the 1:1's.. Then back to campsite for lunch, grab gear and go to r/c spot.. You know. That could fill a day or two.

True!

What do you guys think about the tavern?
It looks like we could set up all the tents together... I bet they don't get the same crowds as the advertised campsites.

i'm most likely going to get a hotel in morris and head down friday. depends how well prepped i get myself before then...

seems like you guys would have alot easier of a time if you took the need for beer out of the equation... then again last time i had alcohol was at chris' place.
