Thanksgiving is coming up and just wondering if anyone here likes
deep fried turkey

It's Freakin Delicious!

Deep fry at least 3 birds every Thanksgiving. "thumbsup".................Gotta try and get my money's worth since the peanut oil is so fawkin' expensive.

I had some a couple years back when my cajun buddy came to visit from Louisana. Juiciest turkey I've ever had. Gonna pick up one of the fryers since everyone sells them now.

Hey Scattman, about how much peanut oil does it take to fry one or two?

It depends on the pot you are using. The safest thing to do is put your turkey in and fill it with water until it covers the bird. Then take the turkey out and measure how much water is in there. That way you won't have a boil over by putting too much oil in.

Also make sure the bird is TOTALLY thawed!!!!!

Yes, I said that twice for a reason!

I've done deep fried turkeys and they are tasty! If you are going to go through the trouble of doing one, you should do two or three.

Yup, and be careful of you're going to do so on a porch, preferably....DON'T!

I fry them all the time, at least 3 times a month. Over the years I've learned a couple tricks. First, you want to lay down some cardboard on the kitchen floor because it really makes a mess. Next, fill the pot about 3/4 full with oil...you want it to overflow a bit when you put the turkey in. More oil=more juicy. Heat it up to about 390* and drop your frozen turkey in. Cook for about 3.5 minutes per pound and you're good to go. "thumbsup"

I can just imagine what would happen when the frozen turkey hits the hot oil!

Indoors too? LOL

Can't stress this process enough. Once you pull your turkey out of the water, don't for get to get all the water out of it and off of it! And if you are unsure of where to fill the oil, just mark the water line with a black crayon in 3 or 4 spots. Be safe and enjoy!

Last year I smoked mine for about 2 hours (low temp smoker with mesquite chips) then cooked it in my Electric roaster, one of the best turkeys I have had.

You don't stuff them if you deep fry them, that would be like soaking a loaf of bread in oil and eating it, yuck.

I think I'm going to stuff it with a bunch of bacon this time.
