Axial rr10

I have the axials on backorder super excited. Love this tires looks. Are the r35 side lugs going to be fixed or run the same way as the s30's?

The two sides of a good brushless setup "thumbsup"

I am looking at getting into crawling and this particular vehicle has caught my interest. I would immediately be switching out the radio system to my 4PK (would put the stock system in my sons Slash), and would very quickly switch to a sensored brushless setup, probably a Tekin RX8 with maybe a 3000kv Pro4. I just do not know that a RS Gen2 ESC with a Redline motor would be up to the task at this things running weight although it is very geared down as compared to a SCT. With that being said, what exactly would need to be done on the Bomber in order to make it fairly reliable? I have raced 1/8 nitro and electric SCT for about 5 years so I understand that not everything is perfect out of the box, but what really needs to be done? On my Tekno SCT410 I really did not have to do hardly anything in order for it to be competitive and it hardly ever broke a single part, but on the Losi SCTE I had to do all sorts of things to keep it together.

I would not be looking to make it pretty or special, just a good reliable crawler that I am not replacing parts on every time I run it. If it would go 20mph on the top end and be able to crawl then I would be happy, not looking to see how far or how high it will launch off of a ramp either! Just a good, fun and reliable vehicle. Thanks for helping a crawling newbie out.

They're pretty reliable already. I'd say first three things with going brushless would be 1. Steel spur 2. HD gears for the axles with steel spools and 3. Universals or VVDs for the front axle. The stock servo doesn't last long either. You'll want to be ready to get a good one that makes at least 400 oz/in. I like the Hitec 7954sh for $80 shipped on eBay. HTH

Thanks for the tip! I had one on my wishlist at Tower. That saves a buck or two over coupon codes at Tower.

I agree with the list pretty much except for the steel spur, by putting in a brushless system and the torque and speed they provide something in the drive line has to give, even with upgraded parts, I would rather have a $6 spur give out then something more expensive. Now this is just my opinion and open for discussion lol.

I don't understand why people use steel spurs with these little trucks. I have run Wraiths and SCX10s with brushless power and since I have went to 32p spurs, I have not stripped one. Metal spurs are just really loud. Learn how to properly set your gear mesh.

On Bombers and Yeti transmissions I do believe the machined aluminum motor mounts are necessary. There is too much flex in the plastic motor mount.

I have seen some guys build bombproof transmissions before they even run their trucks, because they feel they have to.

I have a RR10 being delivered today with a Tekin ROC 3100kv, Hitec 7955TG and some other goodies. I'll be using an Airtronics MT4 radio. I am looking forward to scaling this out a bit. It looks like a real nice rig. I have a Junco front driveshaft and an MIP rear on order as well.

I still need to order theHD diff gears. How do you guys decide how much difference in gearing is good front/rear for the ring and pinion? I plan on using this as a crawler. I have plenty of "go fast" RC cars...

So the puller pro 3300 on 3s is super fast. Going down to a 10t pinion. I have regular drive h d gears in front and back. Besides going 2s how else could I slow it down some? I'm running about half throttle. Anything more and it's just crazy fast. Fun but not ideal for trailing. New spur combo or something?

For those rigs that are now "too fast", your esc is calibrated to the Tx with the throttle end point at 100%, have you tried just dialing that end point back?
50% 60% 85% just try a few till you find one you like, saves changing out another motor or lipo & you can always dial it back up more should you want.

Well it's all done for now. And the transmitter tricks work well. Set the endpoint to lower top speed. You can play with it if you want to go faster or slower so it's a good fix instead of buying a smaller motor. Thanks to all.

Running a steel spur might be marginally louder and certainly not deafening by any means. Choosing to run a metal spur does not mean I am ignorant in the elusive art of setting gear mesh. I completely understand the mentality behind leaving a "fuse" in the driveline and if you tend to drive on the side of aggression would actually endorse that idea. The first time I took apart this dual slipper pad system on a stock Wraith spawn and saw the plastic bushing in the center of the spur where a bearing should be, I made the decision to replace the inferior part with something that wouldn't wobble, hold mesh more constant, and last much longer. I have run Wraiths and SCX10s with brushless power and since I have went to metal spurs, I have not broken anything in the drivetrain. Metal Spurs are just really strong. Learn how to properly state your opinion without insulting someone's intelligence. "thumbsup"

Super bummed the r35 bfg just got moved back to mid feb! Now what tires to get! I hate when you order something and it says mid dec then when it's around that time they push back 2 months!

I guess I'm just bummed bc iv been sitting here with a tireless rig waiting when I could have been running it. Lol that's good for them though.
