bilinvic's F250 Truggy Build Thread

It's been a while since the last update....For the most part, this build is completed for now.

I ended up ordering Proline's Power Stroke 90mm - 95mm Scaler Shocks; I had an issue with one of the shocks and had to wait for Proline to send me replacement parts, which they did very promptly. I removed the adjustable Gearhead shock mounts because the Proline shocks gave me the ride height that looks and performs good using the shock mounting holes in the STRC aluminum shock hoops.

The automotive grade window tint didn't work out as good as I wanted, so it came off and I used Tamiya Smoke to tint the windows....turned out really nice.

I also added the RC4WD shackles on the front bumper.

I'm going to scrap the lightbar idea for now...maybe in the future when I decide what I want to do with this rig.

I just noticed that I forgot to put the wheel's hub covers on for the pics...Sorry!

Well....after several months of being a high value shelf queen, the F250 is getting it's inaugural run tomorrow on the torrential trails of Mount Douglas. The first few scratches will hurt, but that's the way it goes. I'll get some photos posted later.

All I can say is wow....with my F250 being a shelf queen for soooo long, I was definitely missing out. I haven't crawled with an SCX10 platform before and I was thoroughly impressed, this machine was incredible at crawling through the extremely tough rocky terrain. She performed admirably and now that I am going to keep 'er, a new ESC and brushless motor will be soon forthcoming, as well as beefed up transmission gears.

Here's some pics from today's session, which by the way consisted of over 16 rigs. It was great turn out and even a greater day for crawling and hangin' out with some good people.

Once again, I'm sinking more money into my F250....except it won't be an F250 any more. I picked up a Proline 1973 Ford Bronco body. Early next week, I will also have some parts coming:

Axial Heavy Duty Bevel Gear Set 43T/13T for the rear axle (38T/13T front axle)
Axial Racing Aluminum Servo Horn 24T Hitec (Hard Anodized)
Castle Creations 1/10 Mamba Max Pro ESC Smart Sense
Tekin ROC 412 Professional Brushless Crawler Motor 3100kV
Hot Racing Axial SCX10 Hard Steel Transmission Gear Set
Spur Gear 56T 32P

The only stock parts remaining on this machine is the frame rails, transmission case/cover and center skid!

I would also like to get some roof mounted lights, perhaps the Axial five light combo, a roof rack, Dingo fender flares and rear bumper. I haven't decided on the body's paint scheme yet, but I have no doubt it will look great.

Delivery day is always great.....I have the Bronco body trimmed and mocked up for fitment.

The foams and Ackerman arms are for my Wraith.

If you wanted to keep the scale looks of the king shocks you can easily limit the travel..simple nitro fuel tubing can resolve your problem with height...you lose travel naturally but you keep your scale looks...if you have 100mm shocks then installing a 20mm length of tubing on the shock shaft internally will make them 80mm for example....or you can fabricate new upper shock mounts and lean the tops of the shocks towards the center of the chassis to lower the ride height with no loss of travel..youll actually gain more travel using this method.

Thanxs...this machine has evolved a few times now, from the F250 it went to a '73 Bronco and now it's a '79 F150!

I run the stock ratio gears in my axles with a Mamba Max Pro and Tekin ROC412 3100 kv on 3s lipo with the RC4WD AX2 transmission, 1 st gear is great on the trails, 2 nd gear and it goes like a Pro 4 CORR truck. lol
