Bodyless chat...AM I THE ONLY GUY?

They both have their ups and downs at times. I have run them both and like them both for different reasons. "thumbsup"

Was running a berg with the T1E chassis...........

Now I am running a XR10 with a stock chassis and a body........

I run both. But asking why people run or like bodiless seemed crazy to me? Look at the KOH race. Do you ask why they don't have bodies on their rigs? For me bodies get traced pretty quick, they get caught on rocks, scrape the wheels unless you trim the crap out of the body, and they are expensive to put a nice paint job on! For what you pay for a body and paint you could have a complete chassis with links and panels! I've never seen a VW bug crawling in the 1:1 world!:ror: There are several bodies that look nothing like a real crawler! But to each his own!"thumbsup" I run both;-)

Bodyless TVP is the easy way out ... tubers can perform as good while looking miles better.

It's like driving FWD car, or looking at the fine ladies on the NET ... while living with alligator.
Yes you can do it ... but you are fooling only yourself :flipoff:

Everyone has their own opinion.......

Personally, I love the look of the Moonbuggy and the performance. I am not a fan of bodies. It is all personal preference.

Until the 2.2 body rules change I'm running a cheater cage. Right now the rules for 2.2 and super are the same.

I have ran both. I keep going back to the bodied rig. Pros and cons are in the eye of the beholder to me. I've seen and get my arse kicked by bodiless and bodied all the time. Some opinions are better left unspoken :lmao:

I personally wouldn't tell a bunch of redneck dodge drivers that their trucks suck and that they should all by toyotas cause I like them better. I quess if you were ranked #1 in MMA:mrgreen:

I don't think I've even come across a Volkswagen bug out rock crawling before.....those are the bodies I don't care too much for, but that's just a personal preference.

2 out of 3 of last Championship WINNERS had bodies (Nationals & Utah State), and they were NOT bug bodies.

Body or Bodiless is not some much an issue with me.

Its Body Clip or Body Clipless issue with for me!

I Fv<%!$& HATE BODY CLIPS

Sounds like you need a Gunner body mount kit:mrgreen:

and the bug body sucks too (my 2 cents) I run the AX-10 bodies on my berg and love it very little trimming and they roll over great. and don't look bad either

I was just saying I don't like the bug bodies. I run a tube frame...and sometimes I use the sh!t body my creeper came with. Depends on the day.

Bodiless for me. I don't have any painting skills, but I can cut a tin can. Save's me money on Body and paint.

I also like the sound of the cans against the rocks.

I’ve been competing 1:1 rock crawling and rock racing for 5 years now. I will be attending KOH 2011 and up to 3 weeks ago I was the only Canadian qualified for the event. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
If you look at the rock crawling rules (WE Rock for example) the most competitive class is the promod. A class that requires you to run a body. Or panels that resemble a body. I think this is a more applicable comparison to RC crawling since KOH is closer to racing then comp crawling. <o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
Unlimited class is just that. Unlimited. But it is dying. <o:p></o:p>

That second part is the key wording. I certainly dont compete in 1:1, but most of the comp rigs that I have seen were running panels that somewhat resembled the original body. They were made from lexan or aluminum and were heavily modified...

This is pretty close to the requirements on a bodiless chassis in RC. Here is a quote directly from the USRCCA rules: "Bodiless vehicles should resemble a 1:1 vehicle"

IMO, our bodiless RCs arent much different than a skinned tube chassis that is allowed in the Promod class...

They have a coolness factor to them when running in my opinion, kinda like a 1:1 buggy, but they are all fugly. They could look alot cooler if there wasnt any rules to follow lol. I personally like the EEM's version the best, then one of the BJ's is good, other than that I dont dig any of them really, nothing personal. BUT in some cases it is a weight losing factor that helps. I lost 4.3 oz by switching to the delrin bodiless sng over the HC sng with a body, thats a pretty dramatic improvement depending on what you crawl.

Does any of this really matter?

I personally like bodiless because they are typically quieter (no body to echo or ressonate gear/motor noise)

and you can force a bodiless rigs rear wheel over a rock By hugging the rock) that it would likely slide around if there was a body pushing it off.

I like bodies because sometimes I get tired of bodiless 8)
