BOOSTED's 2014 build The 5th Dimension: MKII begins:pg 11

Re: CDW rebuild Chumper V2 to RT

Thanks Jim! I did have some 225's layin around ill get ya a shot of the steering as soon as I get a chance. As far as the Ackerman goes, this rig was built when everyone was still running just reg vp knuckles and back then it was " knuckles to the back, toe out. Knuckles to the front toe in. Alot of that was to help eliminate scrub radius....I believe:ror: don't qoute me on that maybe my boy Travis c. Can chime in he was my go to guy with stuff like that. I do know I haven't messed with the steering, but it has plenty. Without 105 degrees of caster or the inside of the tires reaching around and rubbing the front of the gear case. In all honesty I can't remember seeing a rig that had that much steering and don't either push with the front end or get it jammed up. I have dig, and I use it:ror:

Re: CDW rebuild Chumper V2 to RT

3-4 mins is no joke. him and JD get plenty "practice" together.

Re: CDW rebuild Chumper V2 to RT

Took the truck out Saturday to our local comp, and lets just say I would have been better off staying home. The truck took a hard tumble, and started acting real weird unloading in spots it shouldn't, not wanting to hook up on simple break overs, and then too top it off I had a motor take a shit on me.
Needless to say the day was shot.

Upon getting home and tearing into the truck I found a bent shock shaft and figured that was my problem. So I play with some shocks, move my upper links to a different hole, and that's when I saw it. Both chassis plates are bent one not too bad the other has a decent wave to it. On one side of the truck my wb is 12 3/8 the other side is right about 12".

I had the chassis pretty well braced, but apparently that "little tumble" was worse than I thought. The corner with the bent shock shaft is where the worst chassis damage is so I'm assuming it hit hard on that rear corner.

So it looks like i may have to swap back to the v2 for the time being.

Will try and upload pics soon

Re: CDW rebuild Chumper V2 to RT

Yhat's a bum deal. I remember seeing Rob_B post awhile back that the RT kind of had a certain life expectancy of "X" hours deto the AL fatiguing with use, vein that it's kind of an old chassis, it might have just been it's time.

You still got options though. The German carbon RT is a nice piece and very well priced for what you get. But then I got this chassis siting here just waiting to get it's can cut off...

Here's a couple quick shots, this is just one side plate. The one with the least amount of damage

I did manage to get the chassis situation handled and it should be here tomorrow. Ill get pics up soon, I've made a few minimal changes:twisted:

Re: CDW rebuild Chumper V2 to RT

Looks to me like I hit HARD on the rear driver side. But this chassis probably has two good Comp
Seasons Already so it's life expectancy was pretty short to begin with. This is the other reason that I bolted so early at the comp.

So about a month ago, Travis aka TheSCorpionking flew over for the WCS. He flew into bakersfield was SUPER lucky enough to hang out with myself and JD (HARDKNOCKZ).
At the WCS we started chatting about the Minimal, and i mentioned I wouldn't mind running it, but I'm a bodied guy so the top of that chassis would have to go.

Fast forward a month later and at my local comp I bent a shock shaft and my Rt chassis. Travis mentioned the Minimal and I figured why the hell not the chassis has a lot of potential, killer clearance, and he's muh homie so why not build this chassis up for him.

I've decide to drop some weight I'm think 4.3-4.5lbs but we'll see.

Current rig specs

Minimal chassis
Scx shocks
CDW chumpstick lowers and ti uppers

Front axle:
CDW 20* steering set up
CDW upper link mount
Vp knuckles
300's
Mix of Mann and 300 gears
Rcbros locker
Dlux no slop bushings
Dlux knuckle weights

Rear axle
Rcbros rear tubes and lockers
Axlemaster rears
CDW upper link mount
Mann and 300 gears

SLWs with MThead rings
Shaved sedonas

Dual fxrs with cap for 4s
Futaba s9157
Bec

Old weight was 5.4 with old rt chassis

Got the chassis in from Travis as a bodiless chassis, now I'm sure if you're interested he'll be more than happy to remove the top for you. If not its quite simple to trim

Here's chassis as I received it from him

First thing to do was remove the top of the cab so I bolted it together

A 2 minute trip to the garage using a thin cut dremel fiber disc and much better.

Weight of the chassis and hardware as ill be running

* all stand offs are small diameter aluminum that is gun drilled and tapped for 3mm, very nice little pieces
