Budget bomber must do's

Makes good sense. I used to race short course so just used to 2s. Have to see about switching it up next time I order a few batteries.

As for the strc front links, I searched the site and can't seem to find ends for them. Is there a end to use in place or should I just ditch the strc front lowers? The look beefy but I need the rod ends to stay attached haha!

Also, has anyone used these and would they be a solid upgrade to the steering to eliminate the plastic links?
SSD Titanium Steering Links for Axial Wraith
I'd go SSD over STRC any day. The SSD are on my build. So impressed with SSD axle it's hard to use the big names and you can't beat their quality for the $$. I also ran VP and TCS with great results on other rigs. Which ever you get put some fuel tubing on the rod ends to keep it from flopping.

DLux is out of the rear trailing arms today. Darn. Should have ordered a few days ago. Once they come back in stock I'll place an order. Looking forward to getting this rig more planted. Its tons of fun but rolls if I look at it wrong. That's not something I'm used to.

For my application is there a specific way I should mount my shocks up? They are currently mounted almost straight up and down. I'd also like to widen the rig a bit. Is there a easy solution to this or do I have to get offset wheels?

I think suspension is a personal thing but I have my fronts leaned back and my rears leaned forward. This gives a little softer feel than having them straight up. As for making it wider you can get some wideners or better some wheel with adjustable hubs."thumbsup"

Thanks again guys. Tried to put a second run on my truck this afternoon. The STRC rod ends are totally destroyed and the front axle just keeps popping off because of the threads pulling from the links. Looking at this currently and just wanted to see if anyone had used them before I place an order?

RC4x4 Bomber 6pc. Link Set - Super Shafty

Thanks!

Threaded rod with revo ends is the way to go. Supershafty doesn't sell junk, I wouldn't hesitate to run those.

I have 2 or 3 builds with various RC4X4 stainless links and they are great quality and stout. I use VP Ti stuff where weight is a factor and try to use RC4X4 stainless when it's not. Like Maslin said, threaded rod is the way to go. I tried the set screw kind once when I first started out and couldn't get rid of them fast enough. It was one of the Axial link upgrade kits.

The Dlux rear swaybar is awesome. I bought all of the bars available so i had tuning and mounting options. the bars are only $1 each so it was a no brainer for me. i chose the medium bar mounted on the back of the chassis and links to the trailing arms. it settles the rig down and still offers plenty of flex. helped a bunch for torque twist and higher speed stability.
I run the delux 1/4" bottom fronts and 3/16th uppers front and rear. they are a perfect fit and the lowers are beefy and stout. Everything was in stock when i ordered my sets. One stop shopping seemed easiest and you cant beat the customer service at DluxFab.

I picked up a bomber the other night in a trade. Haven't had a crawler in years and have mainly been airborne the last few years. The truck came nearly stock but with a 3700kv brushless system that I simply plan to run until it dies, a stripped stock plastic servo horn, strc front lower links, and a 19t pinion installed. I'm not looking to crawl. I want the rig to have solid speeds and be more of a solid axle basher than a crawler. I used to comp crawl with a Losi and some friends and when the group all moved away I got instantly bored on my own. I have a need for speed!

My plan this far is to skip the new servo horn and just get a new servo all together. Looking at a few decent budget servos that I have bought before to fit the bill. My question is, other than that what should I look to in order to make this fit my goal. I'd like a half cross between an FFF sand blasting machine and a dune buggy basher. If I need to slow it down for occasional crawls maybe I'll look at the two speed.

Here's my plans:
-servo
-rear sway bar from DLux (what's the diff between center chassis Mount and rear bumper mount?)
-rear lowers from DLux as well

And then just replace as stuff breaks.

Thanks all! Just ordered the rc4x4 6pc link kit from super shafty to get me back in the dirt. Hopefully speedy shipping gets me dirt bound by the weekend. Was going to order the rc4x4 steering and drag link as well but was out of stock. Here is my short list...

-rc4x4, VP, dlux steering and drag link
-DLux rear sways with all three bars
-DLux carter fab rear trailing arms

After that I'm looking towards the..
-VP stage 1 kit
-FI spools

Then just upgrade what breaks.

Man these axials are pricey to build right!

Pass on the Stage 1 stuff, the Scale hubs and knuckles with clamping rear lockouts are much better.

Really? Huh. By scale I just thought it was modeled after real parts or something. What's the difference between them? Thanks!

More material and clamping design makes them stronger and hold onto the axle better.

Not a reason to pass all together on their other knuckles or the kit.. I thought the idea was "Budget" here?

Spending 70% for an outdated design? Just buy the current, better parts and be done with it. "Vanquish" and "budget" don't really go together. Neither do "budget" and "reliable."

Thanks! I traded a associated rival monster truck that I have had on a shelf for almost a year. Been too busy flying.

Just got my first run in. I don't think it does 35mph but more around 20-25 on 2s lipo. The speed is great and it still climbs a curb slowly and my front stairs without issue. Maybe I'll drop to 18 but that's about it. I did manage to jump and hit a railroad tie on landing which pulled on of the threads from the rod ends on the strc front lower links. I'm not sure if there is a better replacement or I have to buy more strc.

Also need to lower the CoG big time and widen it out a bit if possible, and the rear sway should help immensely. I like it though!

RC4WD make some axial rod end, angled or straight. Tight, cheap and better than axial or STRC That is what I use on my STRC link on my built wraith.

Other rethread 4mm and use Revo rod ends!!!

It depends on what your looking for because the clamping and Standard (Outdated as you say) are different designs. For example with the Wraith knuckles, you can change the arms and add knuckle weights easily. Haven't seen knuckle weight for the clamp on style and they have fixed arms.

I have a "Vanquish budget" Those 2 go together lol.

I think he was referring more to the clamping hubs and lockouts. You can use clamping hubs with standard non scale knuckles if you want to do knuckle weights and still have the stronger scale hub design. Also, the double shear scale knuckle is much stronger than the standard knuckle if you are not looking at doing knuckle weights. Both of those options from VP as well as stock hubs are all interchangeable.
