None the less, it will be totally different and no doubt SICK when it's done, the tube work is amazing to say the least.. "thumbsup"

Always enjoyed your work Devlin.. ;-)

Thanks John, but Chris gets the credit on the tube work.

I might actually paint this one myself, dont think I can screw that up:oops:

Friggin small keys on the lap top R,T whatever... :)

I guess I should have been following the bouncing ball instead of looking a the the pretty pictures..

:ror:

And so it begins.

So yesterday I took her out of the box.
and today I began working on it tonight.
here is what I am working with for interior pics. I bet Devlin hasnt seen these ones. I rather like the Blue and Black much better. Maybe I can convince Devlin to do it up like that.

So here it is out of the box. Everything on here is just for mock up purposes.

Stript off the axles and in my previous discussions with Dev, I thought that maybe flipping the transmission would be better. I quickly found out that that isn't an option.

So out came the poster board and I began mocking up the interior.

after some time with this, I figured out that I needed to just loose the transmission area since the hump will be covering over this.
Me and Devlin discussed Brass sheet and tubing and even lexan here and there, but looking at the pictures and getting some of the craziness involved, just didn't seem like a good alternative. Styrene was the better choice because I can do things to the interior and make it look like the real thing and still keep the truck light weight and make easy access to the transmission which is something that Devlin requested.

Basically its taking shape and I am very confident that the end result will be worth every effort."thumbsup"
The only concern I have at this moment is a seat where the motor is. we will see what I can come up with.
Hope you like it so far.

man that's...well you already know:flipoff:! i live in middle TN and ther is alot of those 1:1 "southern buggies" around here i am only a couple hours from summertown/wheelin in the country (youtube search if u havent already) a couple of my buddies run their crawlers/buggies there take lots of pics and keep us posted"thumbsup"

I've seen those pictures :D! I frequent Ricky's site and hardlinecrawlers quite often for inspiration. I agree, I like the new blue interior too.

I'll be watching this closely Norm. I've never figured out a satisfactory way for dealing with the motor hump issue on open cab buggies like these, but I'm sure you will.

i am just curious, but why not put the motor/tranny under the "hood" and run one of those seperate transfer case like i've seen some scale guys do- like i said i'm just asking, i run moa's so i wouldn't know:)

Well I beloved its preference. When some drivers build, they build for performance first then looks. Transfer cases are nice to save room, but add weight and does alter the power delivery. Not to mention more things to break.

You can't see it now, but I do believe my plans with the styrene will work out well in covering the transmission.

Besides, if I was to place the transmission under the hood. Where would I mount the winch servo and scale engine that is in this truck?

There is a reason its un my hands now. When im done, Devlin can do his performance magic.

You are so talented with the details Norm,Great start, and like I said, you have full creative control on the details. Blue does look good "thumbsup" I have never owned a blue crawler, maybe its time8)

This is the rx I am thinking of using. Its the white one on the left, notice the wires/servo leads enter/exit thru the side and not the top. It should allow for a .more scale looking fuel cell or radiator. What ever item is choosen to hide the electronics.

Got my ALHS(almost local hobby shop) to order me two of the R2106GF RX`s last week, got them today he did them for 28 UK pounds each which is alot cheaper than the the R2006GS I got a couple of weeks ago. They both bound up straight away. Not done a range test yet, but one of the 2106`s is going in my Fastrax Cage tonight for a run out tomorrow(if its not raining:oops:)

Instructions state an operating voltage of 4.8v-7.4v, and that it is suitable for short range applications such as park flyers and slow fly models. So I am thinking that it will be ideal in a crawler/scaler "thumbsup"

Quick pic of all 3 types of Futaba RX that I have got.

I will report back after I have ran with the 2106.

I have several of these batteries and they work great, check out the review and charts Chris from CBP posted.

This battery is smaller than the 1300mh I sent Norm, hopefully it will also help with placement

Is it possible to relocate the tranny slightly forward, just to better hide the spur under the dash? Another Very Sweet Chassis, and you sure are the BEST pick to do the interiors/detail! "thumbsup"
