Competition Style Tundra by Southern Builds Fab

Just got back from training. Some update pics from today.

Fender bar attaches to the chassis right behind the front bumper.

Light bar tucked in warm & cozy.

Angled downwards for more rock & ground coverage, wandering what that'll turn out like 8)

That's it for now. More work to come in the next few days

This build had to have RC4WD scale heim joints. Sometimes to make a man cry all you gotta do is show him some scale heim joints and how bad ass they would look exposed ...without a skid to mount them to or anything that would make your life easier.

This is the result. While sobbing this man churned out some U-brackets that are welded on to a triangulated bar "thumbsup"

There are 3 in the front and 4 in the back 8) Or at least that's what she said

These units can't be used with nearly as much side angle as the Revo rod ends, therefore for the top rear links we angled the mounts inward

You can see the stagger of the links with the triangulated mounts welded to the frame

On the agenda for tomorrow is a Panhard mount for the K44s and shock hoops to finish the front  If time allows maybe even finished top secret links which are not titanium, stainless steel, or aluminum

;-)

Vinyl came in! This is my favorite childhood livery along with the Castrol Toyota Celica. What do you think it is

I'm guessing the late 90's Toyota Baja color theme?

i like this very much.

very much.

popcorn is in cooking.

Keep on cooking cause we're not stopping anytime soon 8)

Cage work is awesome.....very nice so far.

Thanks! It's all my skill of holding things here and there that allowed Don to make this build possible... ;-)

Wow man amazing work

Love the chassis work!

Gracias senior! Credit goes to Southern Builds on that one

beautiful work, always will have a soft spot for tundra's.

I know them feels, this is my second one to replace the original

Great looking work cant wait to see it finished.

No joke, makes two of us!

Absolutely stunning work! Someday I hope to be able to do that. Subscribed!"thumbsup"

Your time will come young padawan "thumbsup"

Awesome build you have here:)

Thanks!

sweet build! Will it weigh a ton when it's all said and done?:shock:

Yes. Yes she will. It will double as a jack stand, or melee weapon. I'll post what she tipped on the scales before powdercoat

That.
Is.
Freaking.
AWESOME!!!
I can't wait to see it when its done! This is going to be an epic rig! Good work so far!

Haha I love your enthusiasm. It's exactly what I say the entire time I'm in the shop. "thumbsup" for you

That one Toyota that idk what is called because it's before my time. Lol

Ivan Stewart! Here's a link for you!

TRD - 30 Years Of The Iron Man

I'm guessing the late 90's Toyota Baja color theme?

I'm weak for that livery

The design and craftsmanship are eviable nice work. "thumbsup"

There are no short cuts here. If we're not happy with it, we cut it off and make it better "thumbsup"

My only suggestion is get rid of those yellow lenses. I can't stand those. lol

Really? I love yellow LaminX overlays when I drive at night. This is a mock up body but I'll take that into consideration, I'll see what they look like side by side "thumbsup"

Big update today!

Most of the chassis work is complete.

Here are the front shock hoops 8)

Back of the cage with a swing-out tire carrier 8)8)8)8)8)8)

Boom.

The spare tire carrier will lift off, the tire comes out and the back of the cab will be held in place by tire pressure. Right behind that will be an enclosure for the battery effectively eliminating the need to remove the body for battery changes "thumbsup"

Need to make connecting bars to mount the shocks to. We have something in mind but let's hear it from you guys!

Tell or show us what kind of bar design to mount 100mm king shocks in the rear of the cage would look best "thumbsup"

HOME STRETCH!!!

Windows? Pffft.

Cut the cross mounting plate out for easier motor install and welded a windshield cross bar in.

All that's left on the rear is shock mounting.

The large square is for mounting a number plate.

Using a full size spare really dictated a lot on the rear cage design.

Here's the ass with the fuel cell mounted underneath the spare.

Chillin out back.

Here she is 8)

sold!
the workmanship and design on this are insane!

Thanks! I'm pretty good at bolting and unbolting things on toy trucks

this is so badass, love the way the dash turned out!

Yeah me too, the idea came out of the rock bouncers that he makes. They look perfect on vehicles that look like they get trailored to and from race events. Just need to stick on some gauges
